Seen the short version. Motorcyclist should never have been there.

But two things: do not like that cycle lane - spits you out into dangerous place. And was that cyclist on a phone?!
I'm not even sure it's a cycle lane. I don't ride in London but had a look on google street view and further back it's a full width lane on the the outside of other traffic then as it nears where the incident takes place it narrows to cycle lane width ( https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.50227 ... o6P5UQ!2e0 ) maybe used for ceremonial reasons, horses or something?

And yes he's holding a phone to his left ear with his right hand.

I think you are right. There are no markings on it to suggest it is a cycle lane and if you follow it all the way back, it just starts from nothing in the middle of the road with no signing.

The youtube links don't seem to be working as the culprit has put in a copyright claim - however the added bonus of this is that he has now effectively published his name on the video, Alex Mitchell.

Given his company (self employed) is out there, a quick company check gives people his home address as well, there really is no way to hide from the Internet mob!
If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.

I cannot believe the stupidity of some people, it is not difficult to get personal information about anyone if you know where to find it, I think some individuals forget this when posting such things.

I personally try and hide as much information as I can from the net, then again I am in a business where this is good practice.

Yes the motorcyclist was clearly in the wrong and what he did was stupid and/or criminal...

but contributing to the internet mob? why stop at his name and address - lets find out where his kids go to school and really go to town on him. ffs.

  • Pretty sure I have been Alex Mitchelled when he was riding his other Ducati LC62HWZ,a Red Multistrada, in Kensington last year. Luckily physical contact was avoided but I am quite sure he got deliberately close when undertaking because he did not like my lane position. He later tried simultaneously to cut me off and deliver a lecture. A serious menace on the roads (assuming it was he but the indications are pretty strong it was).

Did you report this? Would give indication to plod that it's not an isolated case and they may be more inclined to take some proper action, though I guess you know better than most about the lack of interest in following up on dangerous driving aimed at cyclists.
"Mummy Mummy, when will I grow up?"
"Don't be silly son, you're a bloke, you'll never grow up"
  • No I didn't report it and 15 months on (with no collision) it is far too late. What it does show is his hostility to cyclists which is relevant to whether his actions outside Buck Palace were deliberate. If there is any investigation it would be simple for police to establish if Alex Mitchell rides LC62HWZ as well as OU13VNM. Strongly suspect he sets out to scare cyclists on a regular basis.

There's an interesting YouTube video for that bike too - and also in Kensington
