Anyone else ride Argon18?

I really like the look of Argon18, all the reviews I read are great and as an added bonus they seem very rare out and about when riding... And as luck would have it, I've just been offered a Gallium Pro 2014 frameset at an extremely interesting price... anyone want to try and talk me out of it?0

cc78 do it. You will not regret it.0

Go for it! I usually buy a frame thinking I might swap for something else in a year or so- not with this one. It's a keeper.0

Thanks for the replies.
So I took the plunge, the frame is ordered and should be here by the end of the week. I'll build it up over the winter (or more realistically get the LBS to do it) and get a picture or two here when it's finished. Roll on next spring!0 -
Check the front gear hanger when you get it, mine wasn't exactly tight!
The scariest part of building mine was press fitting the (Chris King) BB in, never done a press fit one before and didn't realize just how tight a fit it is.
Good luck with the frame, it's awesome.______________________________________

A quick end of the year update. Since my first post on the subject, I've covered just short of 1,000 miles on the Krypton. I had hoped to do more, but when I add the 300 miles ridden on my N+1 and the 6 weeks I had off after some surgery I don't consider it too bad considering it has only been 9 months.
I also decided I needed N+1 something that would take mudguards etc for the winter and therefore I've acquired a Rose DX Pro as well. I had planned to build a CX bike but for various reasons I had a change of plan and some items had already been purchased so I ended up with a 'spare' Ultegra 6800 groupset. Although it didn't really need it, I swapped out the Rival 20 speed group set on the Krypton for the Ultegra and now both bikes are the same.
At the same time, I added a splash of colour through bar tape and gear cables. I've also experimented with saddles and I'm happy with the fizik it's currently sporting.

I finally managed to get the Gallium Pro frame I bought at the end of last year built up...
The groupset is Campag Chorus and the wheels are Shamal Ultra. Deda Zero 100 bars/stem and Selle Italia SLR saddle. 6.8kg without pedals and cages, pretty impressive for an XL frame. The front end is very low (even with the 3D tube), hence the spacers, so I'll hopefully wean myself down a cm or two before the summer.
I can't wait to get out on it!0 -
Just got myself a Krypton - 2014 model. Only tried it a couple of times, but a great ride so far.
I'm keen on upping the tyre width, have any of you had any luck with fitting 28 mm tyres? If so which make?
I've got 22mm alu rims so the critical factor here is what the frame allows for.0 -
Well after reading this topic i got Gallium pro 2013 frame.
I left it at LBS to build it up with Ultegra di2
Cant wait to ride it already0 -

It's amazing to ride really nice handling and cornering. Also only 7 4kg with deep section wheels, aero bars and size 57.5 frame. I will post some more pictures later0

Hello. I want to ask something. I have a Argon Krypton Road Bike, and my Continental Grand Prix 4000 S2 tyres 25mm, don t fit my frame. To be more specific, they touch the front and rear forks , when i ride standing up, and they are very close to the forks, like 1-2 mm , when i ride normal. Anyone has the same problem with those tyres ? I put some Giant PR2 tyres 25mm flat guard, and I have no problem . Thank you.0

It'll all depend on the tyre - some manufacturers 25mm is bigger than others, some smaller.
If you want 25mm I'd suggest ordering a few pairs from an online shop, trying them until you find ones that fit then send the rest back.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

I had the same problem with contis. The front fouled the underside of the fork crown so badly that the wheel wouldn't turn. Have used loads of other tyre/wheel combos on same fork with no issues. My brother has similar issues with gp4000s fouling the seat tube on his Neil Pryde TT bike. My thoughts on it are that they must have a really tall profile relative to other tyres.0 -

Well done.
Absolutely spot on - just the right level of coordination without being too matchy-matchy. If it rides half as good as it looks then I'm sure you're very happy with it!0 -
Here's my Nitrogen. Yes, it needs deeper wheels, but unfortunately that's not an option until next year.

Thanks for the answers. I beginning to think that my bike frame has a problem of wrong geometry. Indeed i ride a pair of Giant tyres 25mm profile since then, and I have no problem with them. I will buy a new set of conti with 23mm profile that i think will fitt better. Any other suggestions on good tyres 25mm profile, from your experience ? I am a fast rider, and I want the tyre to be good in curves, and to have less rolling resistence possible.
This is my bike by the way. Is a XL frame, I am 185cm and 90 cm inseam. It fells a little large sometimes, but in general it rides pretty great.
