Wahoo Kickr. There are some other threads on the device and DC Rainmaker has some good write-ups. I love mine. Over the winter I'd do intervals in the evenings after work and then have a blast on riding real roads virtually at the weekend.

I don't have a macbook but it works perfectly with ipad and PC as long as you have bluetooth 4.

Don't limit yourself to the manufacturer's own software, take a look at the TrainerRoad thread for example. I use it with my MB Air and Kurt Kinetic Road Machine, which is a great combo.

I use a Tacx VR and just run Parallels Desktop or you can use Bootcamp (as I used to)

I use Cycleops Powerbeam.Very happy with it, seems well built and reliable, no problems after a year of heavy use.

I use the cycleops virtualtraining with my normal turbo and powertap, I absolutely love it. Sorely tempted to get a powerbeam like bahzob though to make it even betterer

I at the moment use Traineroad with VP. Just had a look at virtualtraining looks nice. Which would you say is better TR or virtualtraining using VP?
