Ah, thats the Mk2. Everyone knows they marketed the Mk2.

Can't remember what it is, I bought it in-shop at a pro motor-factor shop somewhere near Wembley if I recall. I used to have the Park Campag one, but destroyed it trying to get my first (bike-shop-fitted) UT bearing off - I pushed the threaded bolt through the reaction plate and mostly stripped its thread at the same time in the unsuccessful attempt. Useless, far too flimsy. The thing to be careful of when getting yours is to ensure the leg-end-hooks that slip under the bearing to pull it out are sharp enough to get under the bearing in the first place. I took a semi-axle with me when I bought it to be sure.

I think most non specific solutions involve a cheap ebay puller and a grinding tool to sort the hooks out. The Park tool is a bit crap tbh but it is serviceable and I'm not sure how you managed to break one! I've used mine a few times and it's fine but I do get irritated with paying premium Park prices for cheesy products.

Partly a case of the tool being not sufficiently over-engineered to make even the most stuck bearing look easy, in this case the bearing was so tightly seized-in that the Park tool was simply not up to the job, and partly a case of the (then) Storck UK distributor not assembling from new with sufficient attention to the fact that at some future date it's going to have to be dis-assembled, i.e. not enough lubrication or anti-seize.
In my experience most factory-builds and LBS-jobs are guilty of this, which is why I never trust them any more, I want to do it all myself.

    Quite appropriate.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Rower requested a pic so here she is - all naked and everything. The red dots are the key points from the Genesis Equililbrium mapped onto the 8avio. It's interesting that there are only 3 very minor differences in geo between the two bikes:

A slightly more upright seat tube on the Genesis.
A slightly longer top tube on the Bottecchia.
A slightly lower headtube on the Genesis.

So minor it's hardly worth mentioning though...

Anyway, Campag bits and bobs on their way

Can you get a fag paper between the back tyre and the seat tube?
    Very nice.

Cheers guys - I'll try not to f**k it up with the build.

That's 25mm tyres for you. Last time I had this out to play, I was running 23mm.

But that's for the young 'uns...

Wow, that is a lovely looking frame, just needs a longer top tube for my preferred flat bars and some disc brake mounts........oops, not sure I should have said that!

Ouch. What it really needs is a slim, tanned Italian cycling God to do it justice rather than a beer-swilling, exciled northerner approaching middle age

I know this is of scant interest to most (if not all) but hey ho 8)

Just finished building my first set of wheels to go with the build. Ambrosio Excelight rims laced to 32h & 28h Novatech hubs using Sapin Race spokes (thanks Veronesse for the truing stand and Ugo for all his email advice - definitely beers owed there...)

Coming along. Should be ready for a run out at the weekend (if I can convince a LBS to lend me there Power Torque crank pulling tool

'Nowt like a bit of fettling...
