What is all this move from 23 to 25 tyres all about?

I did the last Paris-Brest-Paris on 28mm tyres

They fit fine on a Specialized Roubaix if I take the mudguards off

Normally use 25mm tyres, Michelin Optimum 25mm at the moment

I'll chime in with a vote for 25's. At my age comfort does become an issue but I don't find them any faster or slower than 23's or 22's. Then again, fast at my age is not what it used to be.

I'm very happy on 25c - if only because the lower pressure means I'm not juddering up and down so much on poor tarmac. I wouldn't say I go any faster or slower than on 23's, but I certainly grit my teeth a lot less and enjoy the riding more. May be my imagination, but also feels a bit more grippy for the same tyre (GP4000S). I am in my late 40's though - comfort and security matter!

While I like wide tyre I have just fitted some veloflex Corsa 22mm tyres for the teeth rattling ride I used to know and not love.
