no, i dont get annoyed. some people are just faster is all.
i was however a little miffed when on the commute the other week a Rapha Sky branded ass decided he didnt want to stop at the lights and jumped onto the kerb with pedestrians on it and skipped through and straight back onto the road. shakes head and carries on cycling (on green of course).Cube Cross 2016

No - at whatever you do, someone is always going to be better than you, unless you really are the very best in the world.0

I make sure to throw a banana or drip some oil in their way. If that fails, then launch a turtle at them.

The reason i ask is i was out on my road bike earlier knowing full well it was only going to be for a half hour blast sub 10 mile.. I was riding down this lane when i see a road biker ahead just cruising along and im going quite a bit quicker than they are..
So i approach the bike and just overtake them continuing my ride only to look behind me after about 2 minutes and this person is right up my backside, i carry on my ride then next minute they come past at some speed quite cleary going hell for leather..
It just made me think wow did i upset this bloke and he felt he needed to get past me again!!!
Sort of reminded me of how it was when i owned a motorbike because it always happened with them..0 -
Only if they aren't wearing a helmet."Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

Perhaps he just wanted to use you as a sprint leadout
Some people will get butthurt and majority won't. If you want to be on the safe side and keep everyone happy then make a hand gesture as you go by.0 -
Doesn't happen.0

Not at all, unless they overtake and then cant manage to keep the pace and i end up catching them up again
Its all very well over taking somebody thinking you're great, but you dont know how far the other person has been or is going. If im on a short ride with little time i'll hammer it everywhere and wizz past everybody on the ride, but if im on a long 80 mile ride i'll just cruise along and make sure i do the distance0 -
I've got 2 single speed bikes, so I regularly get passed by roadies, especially on downhill sections.
I don't really care. If they pass me it means they have better gearing and legs. Most definitely not the end of the world.0 -
Doesn't annoy me but it can make me jump sometimes if I'm not expecting them!!0
-
nope, unless they come really close with no warning.
this is when im communting on my mtn bike with a massive ruck sack on my back. i have no idea if its cos im on the mtn, or if these ppl are just kuntz, but on a few of occasions of my spring communt some dried up old witch and some full pro kit bellend mamil with mismatching bike make to his 'team' just overtake me on a busy ish country b road, whilst im merrily making my way to the station. no issue if they gave me a wide berth, but coming really close with no word of warning or anthing is a bit off imo. maj of roadies or freds who overtake me on my mtn make it known there coming up behind and passing.0 -

No shame in allowing someone to overtake when you swing into a headwind, then wheelsuck them for a mile or 5I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

I was doing 100 mile ride at the time, & a few days later got the KOM on the same segment which they overtook me on but its still annoying.0 -

Surely none of this means anything unless you race, I'm quicker than some people I see out on the roads and not as quick as others, but as I'm not racing it doesn't matter surely?! And I know if I did race I'd get battered,One plays football, tennis or golf, one does not play at cycling0

If it annoys you, then you were delusional before. Is the gorilla tired yet?0
-
Nah. If it annoyed me I'd spend the entire ride in a state of rage.0
-
whats the point of worrying about people overtaking you? It happens. get over it.0
-
Yes, 'cause it reminds me that no matter how hard I train I'm never going to be more than mediocre in the bike - I just don't have the talent.0

Last year on one of my commutes to work I had a young lad overtake me - I thought about jumping on his wheel and decided not to as I was only cruising on my CX bike with racks & guards on whilst he was on a roadie with TT bars. Then his mate came past on a road bike so I changed my mind - sat on his wheel for 3 miles - meanwhile the first guy had gained some distance on us - so as my leadout started to flag I took the front and gave him a tow back up to the first guy ... fortunately they peeled off after a mile and left me to ride my own pace to work ...
noone was peeved, annoyed or upset - we just had a good quick blast ...0 -

Not annoyed, if it does happen then gives me a bit of a burst to try and get closer to them.
What does irritate me is when you are waiting at traffic lights and another cyclist goes in front of you rather then just waiting, most times I end up passing them again0 -

Happens at least twice a week - drives me mad! I have no problem with bikes that want to fly past, but nudging in front at the lights for no reason to then go slow, meaning I have to repass....only beaten by the ones that sail through the lights while I actually abode by the law and wait, only for me to repass :evil:0
