Recommended turbo trainers at around £200 (or less!)

Hi I'm contemplating getting a turbo as it will allow some focussed training, which can be difficult where I live in London with all the traffic, lights etc. The choice is a bit bewildering, anyone got a personal recommendation? I am thinking of the Cycleops Fluid 2 maybe. Don't want to overspend but don't want something too cheap and loud.

I used to have a Tacx satori and had no issue with it.

Have you factored in the offer costs such as a mat, fan, trainer tyre, sweat catcher and possible spare wheel/cassette?

I like my Elite Qubo Power Fluid. It's quiet and you change the resistance by shifting through your gears just like riding on the road. No fannying around with different levels of resistance and you don't need to crank it down onto the roller. It's a shade over £200 though.

I too have a Tacx Satori.

Decathlon have them on sale with a mat, wheel stand and video for £129.

Whichever you decide upon I would recommend ensuring that it is supported by trainerroad.com

He has set a sensible budget, why would he want to throw away money pointlessly?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I had considered the Tacx but reviews are very mixed. I'll check it out again.

I bought a Tacx Blue Motion, here's a video review

The Satori is the same resistance unit but with a better frame. I use a 2 quid towel to keep sweat off the frame and a rubber matt from a camping store to protect the floor. I use a normal cheap road tire.

I thought variable resistance would be useful but I think I would probably go for something like a Kurt fluid now.
You need training software really. I wrote my own - see link below.
