I got some random team kit jersey coz it was cheaper than plain kit and a proper a italian branded make. Not a big name team just some obscure team. Don't have matching bibs & cap though.
Will have to ride faster now coz would be embarrasing to get overtaken while wearing a team jersey. Iv'e not being over taken once so far this year (cycled 1000 miles since start of yr according to strava). Think in cycled about 3000 mies last year & got overtaking less than 5 times.
Im not very fast there is just that few cyclists round here & they always seem to be going the oppsite direction.

Yep, some looks good but it is often at a really nice price, I have mixed it with other team shorts but only have Venezuela shorts which don't have much standing out being white with blue.
Just wear what you like and those who don't like you wearing team kit or mixed stuff can just keep pedalling. (Not that I have had anyone say anything about my kit ever)0 -
I hope you wave to the riders going in the other direction and that you are wearing a helmet everytime you go out.0
-
Yep, although I tend to go for retro kits as I prefer how they look.
Just wear what you like because you like it rather than worrying about anyone else. I can't remember a single time where I have judged another cyclist because of what they were wearing.Bianchi C2C - Ritte Bosberg - Cervelo R3

Yeah i wear helmet but its a mtb one with a peak on, & i wave at people & say hi.I can't remember a single time where I have judged another cyclist because of what they were wearing.
I judge everyone I see but not in a serious way. 8)
Only other team kits iv'e noticed people here wear are the black sky ones.
I like the retro kits prendas always has some pretty ones.0 -
Just make sure you don't appear on Full Pro Kit Wankers!
I wear trade jerseys but not full kit. Currently loving the new Lotto-Belisol jersey but have yet to buy one.0 -
I think you're over-thinking this mate.
Wear what you like, where you like and forget about everyone else.
*With an exception to being a complete newbie with a Team Sky Pinarello adn all the matching kit etc *0 -
Club kit ftw
Nothing better than riding in your county's kit & colours. Unless your in a team, then wear your team kit0 -

No, but I could care less what others wear.English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0

I've got some Vifra jerseys that I got from PX for about a tenner each - they are Italian team jerseys full of adverts for companies I've never heard of so I don't mind advertising them! I think they are mildly cool and a bit silly. Wear what you want - nobody who matters minds.

that page does make me chuckle0 -
Struggling up a hill in a TdF Polka dot jersey is a bad look.
I'm torn on this, I have some old FDJ and Fondriest era Lampre jerseys, they were cheap, which as a Yorkshire man is more important than looking good. If I see somebody in say full AG2R or Euskaltel kit I think nothing. I used to see a bloke on a Dogma in full Sky kit riding slowly with his wife in Sutton Park and I'd think, tw@t. Could have been a 40 something Team Sky pro I guess.....0 -
I don't get this, it's like saying why would you wear a liverpool/Man U kit to go and have a game of five a side with your mates? What's the problem, it just shows the snobbery in cycling.
I don't because unlike a football strip it's covered with unsightly ads and doesn't look greatOne plays football, tennis or golf, one does not play at cycling0 -
I don't wear team kit myself but I do think some designs are pretty smart. If someone wants to wear it who cares?
Only problem I have is when someone is wearing a yellow, polka dot etc jersey. Its kind of like walking around with someone else's Olympic gold medal on.0 -

I have those Italian Champion Guerciotti Venezuela shorts. Excellent padding and they look good. Couldn't get the matching jersey.
I don't mind wearing team kit as long as it is reasonably obscure.
I sometimes shop here:
http://www.supercycleclothing.com - webpage down? for obscure/retro stuff.
PS Could not give a monkeys what people wear, it is all subjective and it's a person's attitude that matters most. We are all cyclists at the end of the day aren't we?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
It's really up to the individual to choose isn't it?
For what it's worth I always have a nosey at other peoples kit and usually have a opinion ... But .... Keep it to myself!
I personally wouldn't wear a team kit such as Sky or OPQS although I like both and see plenty.
Wouldn't have a problem with retro or foreign obscure stuff mindStill thinking of something clever to say!0 -

Presumably the dogs got him in the end. If you spot a 40-something in an HTC jersey, give me a wave. Wearing gear from defunct teams is paying homage to cycling's history, after all. They use their cars as shopping baskets; they use their cars as overcoats.0 -
This topic does make me chuckle...
Many of the folks who attend Old Trafford every home game wear their Man Utd shirt, but have probably not played football (to any great standard). I see many golfers wearing 'pro golfer' kit, yet couldn't hit a pigs a*se with a banjo, and nobody really mentions it. As someone who's a considerably better golfer than he is a cyclist, I feel there's more 'inverted' snobbery in cycling than there is snobbery in golf. But that's just my opinion. I'm just glad to see people on a bike. If they look like someone whos new to cycling & we have a chat, I always encourage them, rather than take the p*ss and put them off.0 -
What does it matter. Wear what you want, although I do see the irony of someone wearing a KOM jersey struggling up a hill.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0

It's like football tops. Not everyone inside the pub wearing team footy kit is a pro, but what the heck.
It's better than being naked and waiting for a pint0 -
Have a couple of jerseys with component makers logos on (i.e. 3T made by Castelli) but its because they look good.
I think clothes look better with a bit of writing on. I like Sportful stuff with a big 'S' on for example.
I prefer bold designs rather than plain one colour with a little logo.
Team kit is often overkill though IMO.
I would wear team kit if it were good quality and it looked very nice but have never seen anything that I liked that much and often colours would not match my bike
I tend to shy away from matching jersey and bibs for some reason, even club stuff.
I would personally not wear team kit as some kind of 'supporting' gesture. I generally do not like dressing to show support/allegiance for anything (when not actually doing the thing yourself) Football, horse racing, class status, religion etc.
Sky kit is a bit of a no no for me, followed by polka dot/yellow/world cup etc. and the funny (Wallace & Grommit, Marmite etc.) ones.
I would not wear a cycling cap without a helmet or bike, but I do have a couple of manufacturer branded casual clothes.
Actually, just remembered I have a white Sky polo shirt
Have never worn it though. It was cheap on wiggle and will only be worn on european holiday by the pool. A bit tongue in cheek and a one up on all the football shirts0 -
I find that I as get older I'm less inclined to buy anything that has pictures, logos and branding on it. Shopping for t-shirts is a tough task in sports shops as many have silly Nike or whatever straplines.
Whenever I see a full kit cyclist out it makes me chuckle if they're not particularly quick.0 -

wearing a football top makes you look like a hooligan that is probably going to start a fight
What is wrong with club kit? You pay your £10 membership & get kit &cost price! I have 5 local clubs and all have a quality kit!0 -
I wear team kit all the time. But I'm in the teamAnd the people bowed and prayed, to the neon god they made.0

I don't have a problem with people wearing team kit. As people have said it is no different to football fans wearing replica kits. However, the other day I say someone wearing a replica of Mark Cavendish's Sky rainbow jersey and that just felt wrong. The pro's have to earn the right to wear that. It would be like the football fan walking into the pub with Pele's world cup medal around their neck that they have just bought off ebay! Besides, if you have bought a Replica rainbow jersey would that then give you the right to sow rainbow cuff's on all the cycling tops you buy in the future!0

Been on a ride with a few guys who have full sky kit riding a yellow & black Carrera TDF !!!.
Think rule#17 needs to be followed0 -

I agree with your comment. Why all the hate over clothes !?
You chaps sound like a bunch of teenage girls at a disco0
