Hi there,
I am pretty new to cycling, but have got the bug in a real way!
I am due to do my first 100KM next week, (have done 80km, 90km to date, last two weeks consecutively) and wondered what the general consensus would be on training in the week leading up to the 100km.
I had in mind to do a 50km on Tuesday and incorporate a nice climb, followed by a 40km quick pace on the Thursday am, stretch and foam roll Thursday pm and complete the 100km on the Friday afternoon?
Any insight and/or suggestions would be greatly welcomed.
Cheers,
P

Don't over-think it. 100km is just 6 miles further than 90km.0

Thanks folks!
Only thing is I did a 40km ride on the Monday-Wednesday pre the 90km, but can only do Tues-Thurs pre the 100km, will a 40km quick ride on the Thursday morning pose any negative effect would you imagine it may prime the legs!
Cheers again,

Depends on your fitness level really - not something anyone could answer without more info.0

Thanks Imposter,
I am quite fit, do a lot of HIIT regularly, I was just worried about the impact on the leg's doing 40km day pre 100km, but I guess they are my legs, and I wont know until I try it!
Thanks for your interest and reply!

40km is what - 25 miles? The distances you are discussing are relatively low and should not be problematic for anyone with good basic bike fitness to ride, in advance of a longer ride the day after. As ever, it all depends on intensity. 25 miles on the rivet would be a bit different to 25 miles easy spin.0

Doing a 40K the day before is ok as long as the pace is not so fast that it causes tiredness or soreness.
It should not be at a pace to 'build strength', but at a comfortable pace to maintain fitness.
