but I'm after peoples opinions. would you stay in a job just because it's reasonably well paid, but boring as hell and with virtually no chance of progression? Or, would you risk jacking it all in, giving up the company car etc to go and do something else?
I don't think I'd ever choose money over happiness.0 -
I live a very simple life - I do as little as possible, try not to stress myself, so jobs to me are about them being part of my life, not my life.0

I'm in a job which bores me stupid. Probably the least interesting mech design job in the world and I'm the only designer in an office full of sales people who are (without exception) a bunch of dull as sh1t golf playing, humourless, personality deficient tw@ts.
The pay is reasonable, benefits and bonuses are great and it's the first job I have had in years close enough to cycle to.
I can stick with it for a while, it's too steady to quit and will look good on my cv. I might possibly get fired for abusing one of the sales drones though.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
WK just quit your job and do the prostitution like you told me last night in bed, I think you'd excel in it and you said its something you always wanted to do.

It is an interesting conundrum.
Im fortunate that i like my job but i wonder how i would feel if i didnt. i think the truth is that provided i could enjoy the money i made, i would live with a job i hated. If the money was good and i hated the job and i never got to enjoy some hometime where i can enjoy that money, i would re-assess, jump ship, and figure out how to balance the money, life and satisfaction elements to the correct standard.
i am full of admiration* for those with the balls big enough to make a huge life change and its always great t find out that that bravery paid off.
*i am also invariably full of cake**
**by cake i mean cake, not obvious***

It's all wrong. I would prefer to work part-time and cycle full time but then again there are those who are money rich but time poor or time rich but money poor.
Sometimes it doesn't matter if you are money rich and time poor because you get can afford to get lifts up the mountainside in a van like Benito666.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0
