Monumental Inner Ring preview. Plenty to ponder around unhitching the fast-twitchers.
'The descent is fast and marked by a series of curves and five hairpins. The race has been won on the descent before and it has its technical moments but it is really a very physical effort, a series of sprints out of the corners. Carrying speed into the bends matters but what makes the difference is being able to pump out big watts on every bend exit after 290km. The ramp ends and the race sweeps into town with one dog legged bend before the final 500 metres."...a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -
I'm looking to the scando's and lowlanders for some breakaway action today. I want to see the Belkin Bianchi's getting lots of air time.0

The Milan-San Marino sportive is the longest of the year. (Well over 100 miles!) Unlike last year, no one is allowed to do the short route!

Some are saying Milan-San Marino will have a headwind later. Others say it will be a tailwind. Who knows what the organisers have planned!!“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

That's important in making the race what it is though. When the action starts in the last 40km it's a big unknown who will have the legs. Plus it's hard for sprinters teams to control the end of the race after that distance which helps with the "will it come down to a sprint/can a smaller group attack of the front" questions. No takers for EBH
Not surprised to be honest. He always seems to disappoint.
I'm surprised more people didn't go for Fabu though, especially after his T-A time trial performance.0 -
Back from a disaster of a ride, I've got a six of duvel and my Tom Boonen endorsed pasta salad.

A few years back the Warnie used to be longer (i.e. 299km), but since 2004 thats back down to just under 260km... MSR is still the longest race with the Warnie second. Incidentally, this year's MSR is the shortest since they introduced the Le Manie climb... but as that is out (and the planned new climb at the end didnt make it in) we are back to the "traditional route" this year.**************************************************

"The pass is a symbolic moment, lifting riders away from the foggy plains towards the shimmering spectacle of the Mediterranean, from a landscape defined by soil and toil to another lined with beaches and escapism."

I thought the eurosport coverage started at 1 pm but it seems to have been pushed to 1.30 with a half hour programme about saxo tinkoff now on. Could be interesting but is kind of annoying.0

The peloton have come off the Turchino pass, with Cannondale setting the pace. Already there are groups in trouble with around 30 riders off the back of the field.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
Seeing as it's a spoiler thread ...
Contador cheats to win, but then loses the win when caught ...
I'm sure that's the only time that ever happened ...0
