Back pain - any ideas on riding position issues?

If anybody gets this same specific pain or KNOWS the solution then please advise.
After an hour or so ride my body feels fine apart from medium-pain/discomfort going down my middle back.
To be more specific, it feels like the pair of muscles running down alongside my spine, for about 9 inches. It runs from the bottom of my shoulder blades to the start of the lower back.
Obviously, this is a riding position issue but can anybody please advise as to the solution.
Is it over-reaching, under-reaching, too high, too low, poor techinique, hand position on handlebar (racing drops?)
if anybody knows this exact recoccuring specific discomfort then hopefully you know the answer.
It doesnt stop me riding per se but it means I have to sit up a lot and curve my back to stretch it out for temporary relief.
Thanks.

Bit more info needed really. How long have you been riding, for instance? If you are a new rider, if may be nothing more than a period of adjustment that is required. Also, if you want position advice, you will need to post a side-on pic of you on the bike.0

Ah yeah, maybe I should give it a couple of hundred more miles. It is manageable, just not ideal.
I might stick on a short stem to see if that makes a difference as I tend to opt on 'I am too far away' side of things.Pedal to Paris blog at http://RideToParis.co.uk0 -
