In case you missed this odd occurrence from the two national teams:

http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/lat ... tag-117012

I'm certain you would not get R Millar, Contador, Merckx, Hinault, Anquetil, Pantani, Bahmontes, Fignon, Gaul, Coppi, Bartali et al certified heavyweight champions playing rock, paper scissors.

What are they going to do for the next round?

    There wasnt much swapping involved!!
  • Didn't Anquetil once challenge Eddy Merckx to an eating and drinking contest?

Merckx won that as well as everything else he entered in 1969.

Someone needs to have a word with Garmin about this Panda thing.

It's got very old very quickly.

I'm fairly sure that quite a few of the riders listed by FF would have jumped at the chance to earn a few quid/Francs/Lira/Pesetas more in a demeaning and worthless competition. It used to be de rigeur in the off season, if you had a name that could be exploited.

I would be very good at this.

What even a wife swapping competition? Here's a question who would win: Anquetil, Coppi, Fat Jan or Boonen?*

What was the actual competition today anyway?

*Feel free to increase the field of competitors.

Are you asking who would win a wife-swapping competition?

Got to be either Anquetil or Coppi. If their wives were the same age as them they'd be 80 and 95 by now. Fat Jan and Tomekke have it all to lose.

  • Anquetil swapped his wife for his step daughter. This isn't even a contest

Remember the line in The Simpsons movie when Tom Hanks says "The American Government has lost it's credibility so it' borrowing some of mine..."

Basically what Sky are doing with OGE's "fun team reputation"

You miss another huge point of this, like people always do with Sky. Their main sponsor is an Australian owned company. It's all PR with Sky, everything they do is.

I know this is just a bit of a laugh but it is w@%k. I thought they might do something physical like have a running race, tennis match whatever, the way they built it up I thought it was going to be like a giant Royal Rumble or something, not bloomin' conkers or whatever crazy activity they have planned next!

I think some people need to take a few 'lighten up' pills. It's just a bit of fun is all, for some reason as soon as the 'S' word gets chucked into the mix everything has to be analysed to find something to criticise.

The reaction would be the same whatever team did it. It's stupid whether your team is called Sky or Saxo.

I personally don't have a problem with Sky, I just think it's a bit cr@p, I was expecting something epic after that build-up! It's the "Phantom menace" of cycling stand offs ;-)
