One of the blokes even drove out from Barnoldswick to Skipton to meet me when I came to collect, to save me a few miles. Although the cynic in me wonders if that was cos the gaffer was on holiday and i didn't need a receipt, lol... I'd already agreed the price with the owner before I dropped the parts off though.0

Ok so Slik graphics do decals for the Stans Flow Rims....
Choice between black and blue? part of me tempted to go blue. but that would go against my stealthy blackness of the rest of the bike.0 -
Few updated build photos from the Bike shop:
With rims on! and that rear Rotor looks Huge!

Well here she is! Finished!

I approve!!!
My inner weenie wants a weight figure?0 -
31lb all in. Not the lightest but i never built it that way, I'm 17 stone with kit on and it will be abused....0
-
Looks great, hopefully mine will look similar!
Be sure to write down your first ride impressions!0 -
Also how did your bike shop fit the cable through the internal section in the rear triangle? I can't get it through on mine0
-
Its a good question and partially why i left it to the bike shop!
First impressions are weird! only rode it around the block, lots to fettle with. Wales this weekend!0 -
So I assume you don't hold the answer.. I'll look around to see if anyone knows
What were you riding before? I'm assuming you mean weird as in it feels different to your previous ride?
I guess there is a fair bit to adjust, fork, shock, brakes, seatpost..
BPW? Should be a great first ride, perfect bike for it0 -
well no i don't, however if i was going to do it i would use an old metal coat hanger which could be straightened , tape the cable to the end...
Ive been on a Pinarello Road bike for the last 12 months, i was riding a Yeti ASX, with Shermans before that. Jut getting used to the slacker angles and geometry.
yup had BPW booked since before xmas, so the bike had to be ready, I rode there on a Bronson C before so it will be an interesting comparison!0 -
Wire coat hanger is the answer then tape a length of inner cable to the wire coat hanger and pull through. You can then thread the new outer down the inner cable nice and easy. If ever I change a cable I always thread an old inner cable through before pulling the outer cable out of mine0
-
I always used to use a coat hanger and gear cables when i did custom stereo installs, could get wires through gaps and grommets etc.0

I'll give the coat hanger a go then, thanks
Ahh so haven't been on a full suspension bike much lately.. probably explains it, I suspect I'll find mine weird too coming off an XC full sus
I'll be interested to hear your feelings of the bike at BPW then, should be awesome0 -
Well been on and off Full sussers in that time. Had a fettle today with the Covert, Adjusting Bar angles, brake levers, seat post and seat rails. It already feels much better and more comfortable with minor tweaks.
Had a play with the sag on the Pikes, The shock pump that comes with them is not particularly accurate and I'm reluctant to play around to much until i get them on the trails and see how they perform. Same for the float X rear shock.
Bought a mucky nutz front mud guard lite today, they were on offer for £4.50, not massively impressed with the fit and overall look so it probably won't stay on. but it was only £4.50 so no great loss.0 -
You can never find wire coat hangers these days though...0

Dry cleaners....0

So had my first full outing on the Covert this weekend just gone, took it to Bikepark Wales on the Uplift.
She rides really well, it was a baptism by fire by all accounts. I had the Forks and shock set up on a basic air pressures and went from there.
All of the kit works really well together, happy with the 2 x 10 set up, however i didn't manage to get into the granny ring all day, even the climbs i did with it the big ring was man enough.... Food for thought for the future maybe?
Pikes: Loved them, No diving in the corners and berms. Not perfect though need to tune them to perform better on small bumps and to find that balance between firm and plush!
Frame / Shock, Again once i had adjusted everything to suit my riding style it felt very homely! The rear shock definitely needs fettling with to find the sweet spot, the rebound needs to be mastered without losing the sag set up!
Oh and i Didn't break it which is always a bonus!!
I have learnt that the bike is capable of going quicker than i can comprehend at the moment. need to sharpen up my skills to keep up with it!0 -
How much frame with shock weight?0
-
assuming you mean how much does the farm and shock weigh?
i think its about 7.5lb, its not light by any means!0 -
I have to agree with your comments on the pike
I only had a quick bounce but it was ridiculously plush0 -
think i have a problem with my rear shock....
The rebound adjustment knob only turns about 2mm either way?0 -
Yes the rebound, using an Allen key it won't move more than 2mm each way.....0
-
I'm not sure.. I know it normally clicks after each turn
I'll have a play with mine tomorrow to see if mines similar or not0 -
Right I took off the shock.... There is a small alen bolt which seems to aim directly at the rebound adjuster.
From fiddling this bolt can lock the rebound in place or allow it to spin freely, or indeed make it click.
All seems ok after adjusting it!0 -
Good job you brought that up, I wouldn't have realised there was a bolt to lock it in place0
-
Well it's not mentioned anywhere on their website, even speaking to mojo they never mentioned that it might be the problem.... I just didn't fancy the 4 hour round trip to the bike shop and the wait while it was sent off.....0
-
I'd have probably worried to
I don't know any other shocks that have it and it seems rather unnecessary considering how hard it is to access it anyway..
How you liking your Covert now you've had time to adjust to it? I still need to get used to mine.. But it's really great at pedalling considering the travel0 -
Well I did ask the shop and they said that the Allen key bolt was not a lock pin, so I took it out anyway and hey oh it works now!
Not had much time to play on it properly, especially as the shock couldn't be set up properly, however now that the shock can be set up I will put some miles in. It does seem very capable up hill which is good. Still fiddling with cockpit settings.
I gave it a good hammering at BPW, so much so there's all kinds of scuff marks on the frame already! Some down to the bare metal ! But I'm not one for heli tape and shiny things, I'd rather it looked used0
