Well folks, there is some racing on so we may as well talk about it rather than going round and round in circles on some other unnamed threads...

Stage 1 is over and Phinney's in the leader's jersey.
1 Taylor Phinney (USA) BMC Racing Team 0:12:03
2 Steven Cummings (GBr) BMC Racing Team 0:00:14
3 Lasse Norman Hansen (Den) Garmin Sharp 0:00:16
4 Tony Martin (Ger) Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team 0:00:22
5 Fabian Cancellara (Swi) Trek Factory Racing 0:00:25
6 Peter Sagan (Svk) Cannondale 0:00:31
7 Adriano Malori (Ita) Movistar Team 0:00:32
8 Maciej Bodnar (Pol) Cannondale 0:00:35
9 Alexandr Porsev (Rus) Team Katusha
10 Peter Velits (Svk) BMC Racing Team 0:00:37

Tony Martin not happy at being forced to start last when everyone else got to pick their slot.

  • Der Panzerwagen's certainly not happy. Rare to see/read of him being angry

But...what about Lassen Norman Hansen's ride? Woooo
  • Been watching Eurosport's coverage.
Mostly shots of skyscrapers, the finish and the odd, mid point rider thrown in.
Technical issues this the big buildings apparently.
Road bikes and bonnets, which was nice.

Very talented lad, especially against the clock.
Saw him in the Glasgow WC meet.

Yeah, was in the Pringle when he crashed in the Scratch and chased back on, took a lap and won. It was something else.

Garmin seem to be collecting a fair few decent young riders, eh?

I should have added a 'just' to my post, cos it finished more than 4 hours ago.

I've grown to like the Lampre kit. Mainly because it somehow reminds me of hockey at the 2012 Olympics

Weird to see them TTing on road bikes, not sure if it's old school cool or a shame not to see all the fancy TT kit. I was a bit fed up of seeing the same skyscrapers by the end.

I'm now so looking forward to my company offsite in Dubai. Not.

Tting on road bikes is the best bit about this.

The Alpe d'hubris? Ski station dune for completion, Summer 2015 I believe.

When he's switched On and focused, Taylor Phinney is a real force of nature. Ably assisted by what appears to be the best all round aero bike in the peloton ( I would say that though!)
  • Kittel...easy. Sagan 2nd? Then Nizzolo. Cavendish nowhere.

WTF was Declan on about? Textbook effort from Omega Pharma, just as they got outmuscled at the front. I guess the unhelpfully similar coloured jerseys don't help...
