This may sound odd but could i change the back wheel of a mountain bike for a 700x23 road wheel and then use it on my turbo.I currently use my road bike on the turbo but was wondering if using my old mountain bike,(which is never used anymore as i have a new one),would save my roadie from the turbo.
Its just a though, not really thought it through properly but is it feasable,it is only till spring when the road bike can come out of hibernation.

Depends if you have clearance for the bigger wheel. May have issues with dropout spacing too...25% off your first MyProtein order: sign up via https://www.myprotein.com/referrals.lis ... EE-R29Y&li or use my referral code LEE-R29Y0

I'd just get a spare cheap 26" (or 650b or 29er or whatever new standard they have come up with this week!) wheel for the mtb and stick a slick tyre on it.0

Thanks guys,i`ll have look into those ideas.
If it stops the extra wear and tear on my roadie then all the better. The mountain bike is for the scrap heap anyways but would be ideal for training in the garage on.Cannondale CAAD 8 105

There isn't much wear or tear on a turbo.
You might get a bit extra wear on the tyres - so fit a cheaper one or turbo tyre if the bike is otherwise in hibernation.
I'd try with normal tyres anyway and see how you get on.
If the chain is clean its not like you'll have excessive wear on that or the sprockets - and chains and blocks are cheap anyway.
Your MTB will be a different position to your road bike - so you will use the muscles slightly differently.
I'd go road bike if you can.0
