Happy new year folks!
Got a dilemma on my hands here, I am about to purchase my first GPS/computer for my road bike and I have read a gazillion reviews on this and that...
The Garmin edge 500 seems like it will do the job just fine, I can add a cadence sensor and HRM and all will be great! Then I started looking on the Strava website and I see that I could just purchase a Wahoo cadence sensor and a HRM from them and I then have pretty much the same thing but the addition of maps on the phone (not that I would use it).
Have any of you used the iphone 5 with the Wahoo sensors? Or is it best to stick to dedicated bike GPS?
Thanks in advance
Mick

I used to use my iphone but upgraded to a Garmin 500 because the iphone battery life / GPS signal are shit0

Personally the relatively modest cost (and superior waterproofing) of the Garmin 500 win hands down against the iPhone. The better battery life of the former has already been mentioned. I do not take my iPhone out on the bike preferring to use on old Nokia as an emergency phone - I shudder to think of the cost of replacing an iPhone ....

You can get a Bryton rider 20 with a HRM for £70 from Merlin cycles. Plus then pick up a cadence sensor for around £30. I have upgraded to using one from a smartphone, so much better. Battery lasts forever!0

Buy a Garmin. Most stravateers take phone app times with a pinch of salt.0
