    to littledove, my gf uses a 11 34 with a compact chainset, she has had an SLX 11-34 and a XT 11-34, there is no difference in shifting but there isn't much in it price wise either, out of the box, the xt looks nicer and is abit lighter :)
    As you ve new wheels, I would get a new xt HG93 chain and a new XT cassette in the ratios you kno and trust :) and take no notice of anything else you read here !

    The OP is beyond help, he wants MTB gears on a road bike and owns not one but two hybrids.

    SLX 11-34 is all you need. XT is more expensive for a small weight advantage.
