  • Do you think the TDU organisers can arrange for Miley Cyrus to take his place?

    Nobody does existential angst on a bike just in time for Eurosport Asia to come online, better than Tommy V. He's essential peloton furniture.

    Indeed when he retires they'll have a whole float made of his gurning face in the caravan before every Tour stage.

    Oh god when is there going to be racing on the telly, normally when I need to procrastinate there's at least some cycling I can watch...

    Ah rubbish, I was looking forward to Tommy mucking about and lighting things up. Hopefully it won't ruin his whole season.

    Sure it wont. If you're going to have a break like this, now's probably as good a time as any. He usually likes to kick off his season with Tour Med and Haut Var, it'll probably rain on that particular parade.

    Says he hopes to be back for the Tour of the Med on the 13th Feb.

    Nearby Rapha Social Club is shutting this month just as it would have been useful for re runs...

    Not sure if I'm glad or not, that place really confuses me...

    On the shop side the staff are top notch at standing around chinwagging with each other or disappearing around the back for inexplicably large periods of time. Top notch at service...not so much.

    You wander in and there's a few cool things around like a Froome Yellow Jersey, some good photos, and some bike porn but then there is stuff that is just trying so so hard it's hilarious. Like they have L'equipe and Gazetta Della Sport in there too - because the number one thing Brits are good at is learning languages! Clearly they re just there to try and instil some unwritten cycling credibility. The Telly's are brilliant and should be showing all the Belgian CX on at that moment, but they re showing some decrepit footage of Eddie Merckx...again, Why?

    I swear the espressos are the most expensive in Soho (bearing in mind the Ritz is just down the road), but I had a sandwich in there that was one of the best sandwiches I ve ever had

    It's like walking behind two American Tourists past a monument in London who are discussing every part of it's history becasue it's older than 1930 when I did nt even realise it was anything special at all....

    Just like Rapha clothing really I s'pose....

    Fair enough...if they buy 3 or 4 overpriced coffees every day then I s'pose it might be worth buying them a paper each...

    I was actually surprised at the price of their coffee when I went in there back in the summer. I enjoyed 2 coffees and a banana cake while watching the Eneco and didn't need a mortgage or even an increase on my overdraft.

    If they've got one of these they don't need to pay for the coffee;

    How many Mayfair properties did he need to mortgage to get one of them?

    They were very polite when they brought me my coffee 45 minutes after ordering it.
