Just occured to me that now most of my wheels are tubular can I get a turbo trainer tyre for tubular rims? I currently have only one set of clinchers which I don't eant to keep swapping a tyre over on wheras I have 3 sets of tubulars which could easily accommodate a turbo tyre over the winter months since they are not going to be ridden outside for a while.
I have only looked at a few websites and not seen anything. Any pointers would be welcome.

Just buy something like a Conti Giro - at around £15 it's cheaper than most turbo tyres anyway...0

Seconded. I bought a turbo tyre for my bike and it was useless. A real bugger to put on and once in action it shed a whole load of small rubber fragments that made the bike (including drivetrain) filthy.
I took it off and replaced with an old gatorskin. It's way better, smoother to ride and no signs of real wear after several months of hard training.Martin S. Newbury RC0 -
thanks for the feedback. I was prefering to stay away from using a normal tyre cos even a cheaper tub is still not cheap and if it pops due to heat its not a quick repair. Even if I fill it with slime I dont really want that inside the house leaking everywhere. I think it may be easier to just buy a cheap and nasty clincher rim purely for the turbo.0

Ive an old cateye turbo - never builds up any heat on the tyre and I use GP4000s with no problem.
Have you tested your turbo - does it build up heat ? I think Turbo tyres aren't necessary on a lot of turbos.0 -
I don't ride a turbo trainer a lot(too boring). Maybe an hour or so every other day during the winter, but have had the same cheap tubular(conti giro) on it for years now. Can't see any reason to spend good money on a, so called, turbo trainer tire.0
