Thin Legs

Apologies if this sounds really daft, but something is puzzling me.
I've been cycling for about 1.5 years and compared to other cyclists, my legs are like twigglets. Even those with similar experience/weekly milage. This is not a vanity thing, just genuinely interested why mine differ so much? Even the missus has noticed how thin they've become - i thought cycling developed legs, not waste them away!

Have you seen Wiggo's or Froome's legs? There's nothing to them. If you want to develop huge guns then you need to stick to the track.English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0

Could be down to any number of genetic and non-genetic factors or combination of factors, such as testosterone levels, body frame size, age, protein intake, type and duration of training, overall calories consumed and when etc. I have the opposite "problem" to you. I just have to look at a gym or grind a big gear up a small hill and I instantly put on about 3 kilos of lean muscle! It looks good, but it doesn't do a lot for my cycling, to be honest.
If you want to put on some more muscle, do some resistance training in the gym, e.g. squats, deadlifts etc, and drink a protein shake after each workout. If not, just enjoy being fast up hills!Superstition begins with pinning race number 13 upside down and it ends with the brutal slaughter of Mamils at the cake stop.0 -
I'm 6ft4 and 12.5st....not the biggest built individual you'll see I have to admit haha. Ive spent the last 10 months doing daily stretches, single leg squats and lunges to keep on top of ongoing knee issues. Ive kept away from beasting big weights on the bench press.0

Age plays a big part, in my early twenties I weighed about two stone less than I do aged forty now. I used to be very fit doing a lot of mountain biking even up mountains then. Now I just ride about 100 miles a week on my road bike until the clay Trails round by us dry out for some mountain biking. I was very slim then but am now bigger built.
If you are fit and healthy I wouldn't give it a second thought0 -
I am the same, especially my calves, they don't seem to have changed in size at all, my quads have got bigger but my calves just seem to be skin and bone. Doubt it makes a huge difference, guess it is down to have more slow twitch muscle fibres?0
