+1 I use a carbon framed bike on the turbo and do out of the seat sprint intervals and climbs with whatever session I'm doing.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

    Yep, same here.
I was even using an 80mm Carbon Tub wheelset until I final got round to swapping it out the other day.

I use my S-Works Venge on my Wahoo Kickr.

Most intervals or virtual rides I perform are performed whilst seated. I'm a little reluctant to stand in case I damage the frame but when seated I'm confident that the frame is secure and will not get damaged.

Before I bought by Kickr, I too used to use my carbon deep section wheels on my Tacx.

AVOID. My mate regularly used his carbon bike on a turbo and then a few weeks afterwards, during a race, the frame snapped. Just goes to show carbon bikes and turbos don't mix.

    Not sure if serious....
  • surely if it won't stand turbo use it won't stand a full out sprint? German magazine concluded forces involved are far greater on the road than on a turbo. but you could always get a second bike...

Oh right so the frame snapped on the road due to using it on the turbo, that makes soooooo much sense NOT Jesus where do these people come from

+1 to the np camp. I've been using Specialized Tarmac on a turbo for ages and not a single issue. Just do the obvious, do as much as possible with towels to catch sweat and wipe down after use.

One thing worth getting is a thong.. Not for you, that would cause chaffing, but the bike...

I wouldn't stand up out out of saddle on turbo. They put very unnatrual pressures on the bike. But seated fine.

    Of course I'm serious! Look

This bike was used on the turbo NUMEROUS times before its death

CARBON does NOT belong on the turbo!

Come on Columbo (or is it Miss Marple?), please explain to us how you know that a frame breakage that occured during a road race was wholly the result of being used on a turbo

Look it's not just this one it's happened to loads of people I know, ask Ade at Sprocket Cycles, he has had numerous cracked carbon frames brought to him for replacement as a result of being used on the turbo.

One chap used his carbon framed bike on the turbo all winter and then one day when descending the Col de Turini he fell and the bike slid onto the other side of the road and went under a van. Luckily he was fine but the bike was completely destroyed bar a few nuts and bolts.

Be as skeptical or dismissive as you want, it's your teeth you're risking, and many of the people who used their carbon bikes on turbo trainers have not lived to tell the tale.

Read some of these topics for example and you'll find out. Carbon + turbo = death

Did these folk all do out of the saddle sprints all winter?

I've been using a carbon bike on a turbo for years and I'm still alive. Am I just lucky?
    More problems but still living....

Nothing to do with the bike going under a van then? Seriously, this has got to be a wind-up...

Would he have fallen if he hadn't used the bike on the turbo?

Would the van have destroyed the frame if he hadn't extensively weakened it by using it on the turbo trainer?

Buckles there are countless people using their bikes on turbos (carbon ones) that have zero issues.

By your own statement he fell off before the bike it was broken and turbo use was not relevant to the accident. When you start proving your own view wrong it's probably time to stop digging that hole.

Again you've no evidence. Best you stop with the BS.

Would a van destroy a carbon frame by driving over it? Almost certainly. You cannot possibly know if the frame was 'extensively weakened' beforehand. TBH, you are usually fairly level with your posts here - has someone hijacked your account?

Your warning would be more credible if you actually had some valid evidence to support it.

Pics of broken bikes are not evidence that they have been weakened by turbos - they are just pics of broken bikes.
