And that is how other Countries see us.
We cant even build a railway without going cap in hand to China.
thats what u lot get for voting for over a decade of labour.
May be an element of truth in that but the Tories did their best to destroy the industrial base of the country when they had the opportunity - guiding us towards financial services.

It's time this country "wound its neck in". We are a wealthy country but it's not our job to police the world, protect our own borders and wind down our interests abroad (from a military POV) This would help us to live within our means.

Let's see the Chinese being as innovative as the UK in so many fields before they declare that we're finished.
Not sure about this - I have seen more genuine research in labs in Beijing than any in the UK. I have seen stuff commercialised there that just wouldn't happen here. And I have seen research costs that make the UK a very undesirable location to spend a research budget by comparison.0 -

I'm sure there is a lot of innovation, but like I said, in as many fields as the UK? Not forgetting of course that our population is 20 times smaller than theirs.0 -

Probably swings and roundabouts at the moment. I don't doubt the Chinese have the budget and knowledge to make things happen in some fields but equally I've seen first hand that they are still a long way behind in other areas too.0 -
One of my early posts that was batches about was a similar thing when I mentioned Brazil as huge on a growing scale. a year and a half down the line Im not sure anyone can argue. The south american countries will see huge growth, mainly labour driven but whilst we all want higher wages in europe, the facts are that the jobs can't afford it so importation becomes paramount.
We need to export, without it we are finished.Living MY dream.0 -

See what happens when global warming really kicks in and water shortages start to bite.
