Fun or Speed: Whats your choice?

  • Strava has helped me to realise that I'm relatively respectable at going uphill but slow coming down. I'm not sure what to do with that information though. It does take the shine of a ride to keep being reminded of how slow I am at descending, but that's silly really. I enjoy descending at the speed I go, so why would I want to change that?

That's the problem with information. Once you have it you can't ignore it.

It'll all come with confidence and practice. If you want to go faster, maybe get some tuition. If you don't, then don't worry about it and just be happy.
  • Thanks. I have done a couple of skills courses and the logical me knows that speed will increase naturally with time and practice. In fact it will probably increase faster if I don't think about it directly and focus instead on smoothness, fun, flow etc. I know all that, but what I was trying to get at is that the simple act of measuring something can change your perception of it and not always for the better.
