8 week turbo training plan

Hi

I have about 8 weeks to get ready for a 24 hour mtb event and with work/weather am finding it almost impossible
to get any decent miles in on the road at the moment.

I'm planning on getting a turbo asap so wondered...

1. What should I be doing on it to improve endurance / overall speed ? I guess intervals but what sort and how often? Is twice a week overkill?

2. How long before any training effect will like be noticeable ? Bit worried 8 weeks isn't very long

Any advice would be welcome

Thanks

    1. Ride more and more often is the easiest solution. 4-6 times a week. But what and how much you should do is dependent on your individual needs/circumstances. In general you'll need to increase the workload a little each week, with workload being a function of both duration and intensity of effort.

    2. Training has an almost immediate effect (some types of training have beneficial effects noticeable within days) but may takes a couple of weeks for you to begin to notice fitness impacts of more relevance. While it is a fairly short duration in the big scheme of things, one can make good fitness gain in 6-8 weeks if they execute a good plan that's suitable for them. That does not mean of course they could not improve a lot more if they had longer to prepare.
