I was deliberating over Head on the Door, Cure and Technique, New Order, but now I've remembered Script of the Bridge - The Chameleons which beats both, but so does Strange Times, What Does Anything Mean? Basically and Strip, how did I forget them. Probably, one of the most underrated bands ever I've ever heard and one which I've spent far too long not listening to.0

Very true - I was into Interpol, and a mate said, "hey, if you like them, try these guys"
Lovely stuff.
Felt are also another who nearly made the list, but I'd have to go for a compilation - "Absolute Classic Masterpieces" would hit the spot
