I am looking into an aero TT helmet.Seems most come without a visor. Now is one with a visor more aero than one without and sun glasses.
Also is a helmet that fits a wider range as in say 54-61 cm going to be less effective as it will have gaps around the sides.
Finally is an aero helmet a waste for a 51 yr old newbie wanting to try 10 mile tt,s.

As above, in practice I don't think it makes that much difference in terms of speed whether you have a visor or not.
After trying various helmets I'd suggest the Kask as above should definitely be on your shortlist. Most others have long tails which are great if you happen to be riding directly into the wind but much less so if there are cross winds.
Only thing I am not sure about with it is ventilation, shouldn't be a problem for 10s but may be for longer TTs on hot days.
Be interested if anyone has used one on a 100/12 hour.Martin S. Newbury RC0 -
I would guess a visor is more often than not more aero, however it is also more likely to steam up and be hotter which are two things worth considering. Someone i race against often has one and often complains about the visor steaming up making it impossible to see properly, think he may have got around it by using some de mist stuff that divers use mind0

Thanks for the replies. Will get one now and think I want one without the visor. I like the idea being cooler as heat was another worry.Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori0
