I'm still in bed, phoned the governor, told them I'll be in later, no northern line either, the good thing about living in high barnet. Will give it a few hours and then get the bike out.

Its a bit of wind FFS.

My journey was lovely and quiet this morning, no bleedin cyclists getting in my way and slowing me down

  • Cycled in, sitting in the office which is like a ghost town. Richmond Park was shut at 7am for everyone, tower crane collapse on Whitehall and another on the North end of Oxford St. Lots of debry along Embankment, was absolutley flying down there this morning. A few fellow commuters out and about.

Simply strap a battery operated fan onto your stem and blow the wind the other way.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

Fulham to the city fairly uneventful. I was expecting brown-trouser inducing gusts but was just a steady tailwind the whole way. I think Whitehall was closed so the embankment was at a standstill as far as temple then plain sailing.

Honestly nothing to worry about. The millbank wall of wind this evening will be a handful though

Drove in from Kingston to Feltham with a diversion via Twickenham. A few small trees and some branches off larger trees had fallen, lots of bits of debris in the roads. Wind didn't seem too bad, but it's hard to tell from the inside of a car. I was passed by a few cyclists on Petersham Road, Richmond Park was still shut just after 7.30.
If I didn't have to take the Mrs in I probably would have ridden, it didn't seem too bad. Thankfully traffic wasn't too bad either as I think a lot of people have gone for a delayed start this morning.

Rode in - south coast - no problem - worse bit was the first mile or so where it's a bit exposed to the cross winds - but I used my cross bike and had no problem ;)

Don't know what all the fuss was about. Richmond Park being closed was a pain, especially as the warning sign had been blown over so I had to ride all the way to the gate to find out. Couple of trees down, and a set of floodlights at the Roehampton rugby ground, but I've had far windier commutes.

The studs I put in my shoes at the weekend for CX racing are a bit of a pain for commuting though. Torn between taking them out very week, MTFU or S+2...

  • Set off at 8:30 when the sun came out, gusty but nothing too bad. Sadly not much in the way of tailwind so no potential KOMs...

Quite a few cyclists about considering. Some bad driving on show - got a few close passes, intelligent stuff when it's this windy, not.

I waited until the rain blew over and the rode into victoria from Forest Hill area, not too bad, a few small trees down and one big branch, otherwise the roads were lovely and quiet.

Set off 15 minutes late, storm had passed by 8.45 as far as I could tell. A bit windy but ridden in far worse. Seen one other person in the office so far and not a single secretary has made it in - I'm starting to sympathise with Norman Tebbit!

Woke up around 6am and it was howling... debris flying down the road and the windows rattling (they're old, alright). Woke up again at 7.30, seemed breezy but not too bad. Left at 8.15 - ride in was fine with the wind at my back.

Took the lane a bit more than usual to avoid debris but flew in. Didn't notice it being too gusty but then I am coming from the South West.

What was all the fuss about?

    Hmph.

    Disappointed.

Bit blustery and what can only be described as a mystery wind as you could not tell which way it was going to come from. Really though, no biggie.

  • Drove in this morning, leaving at 6.30am, bit later than normal. Glad I drove, saw 4 trees down and so much debris in the road, it wouldn't have been safe to ride.

Rode in, the worst I had to deal with was a carpet of slipper leaves and twigs in CS8. The wind enabled me to ride at the same speed as the traffic in the road, so avoiding all of the rubbish. Apart from that it was an uneventful ride. Hopefully the wind will have abated before the ride home, or else it could be a tough journey.

  • Left home at 9.15 heading North West... no problem at all...a few fallen trees along the way, but very little traffic.
Head wind was quite moderate, actually... stayed in 52 x 21 the all way

Northbound commute through south london this morning at 7:30 - took the backroads in case I was blown under a bus but it actually wasn't that bad. Bit blustery across clapham common with a few small trees blown over but generally fine - probably a bit of wind assistance most of the way.
  • Went out about 6am to walk the dogs and once I felt the force of the gusts decided that no way was I cycling in today. That sort of gust coming at you unexpectedly from a side road could blow you under a bus. So I drove in, leaving about 6:50 am. It was a really smooth drive. Got briefly stopped on Grosvenor road outside Royal Hospital as some police removed a fallen branch, but that was it.
    Shut up, knees!

  • Apart from debris on the roads I cycled from Shepherds Bush to Chancery Lane without a problem. Roads were pretty clear which was a pleasant surprise.

Last night's commute home was uneventful other than a slight detour due to a planned road closure but the detour only added 2 minutes to the commute, vehicles face a 2 mile detour. The number of cars and people out last night was remarkably small. The rain today I've watched through the window is vertical so no real wind to report this end of the M4. Sod's law will change that in 45 mins when I leave for work.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

We have no wind - it's weird. Enough rain to put a monsoon to shame, so no change there, but no wind.

Anyway, my woolly boolly socks and new bib tights just turned up :)

Was really windy as I stood looking out my window at 6.30. Decided to chicken out and use the train. Couldnt see any other cyclists on the road. C2C was cancelled and luckily managed to catch district to work. Actually wish I had cycled!

    Well I made it,

I have riden in worse. Wouldnt of fancied it earlier, but there would of been less trafic, so swings and roundabouts.

    No drama Though.

Watch out for those swings and roundabouts though. The swings can come out of nowhere.

  • I was at my desk by just after 7. It was still pretty blowy then. It has been blowing fiercely from about 3am; when I was having breakfast at 6.20 the big-ish trees I can see in the garden were getting whipped around like crazy.

By 8 it had passed though - I wondered whether it was a "Day After Tomorrow" eye of the storm moment, but no, that was it.

Had a nice leisurely morning while the last of the rain passed over. Few decent sized branches down but nothing major. Wind was a little blustery but no different to a fairly average day on the way to the desolate hell hole they call Canary Wharf.

  • Hmmm, could swear there was a nor'wester tonight, seemed to be going quite quickly up Bromley Hill. Could simply be power awesome although it'd be slightly surprising, as I had a backpack full of cat food, and noticed this morning I had moved out a notch on the belt on my work trousers (nothing to do with the aforementioned cat food...)
