Looking at the initial comments I reckon that with my vast local knowledge I could have it as loops. So that the better pedaling people have a chance. I know that on the Wales ride I was waiting longer at the top of a climb for the last body than I was waiting after a descent.
What are you trying to say about my climbing ability huh....0 -
I suppose I could drag my arris out of bed for that, even if it does defy every non competitive cycling bone I've yet to break in my body0

i'm potentially interested0

Hi folks slight problem over dates as they may be changing my rota next year so I don't end up working Xmas and the new year for a third year in a row.
I'll keep you informedI'm going to blow the bank on a new build ( within reason ) NOW DONE!!

Hmmm count me in, date dependant, sounds like fun.0

Oooh, sounds fun! Count me in!!
Personally I would prefer some lovely hilly pedallyness as opposed to balls-out descents, but I guess I'll probably be outvoted on that oneLife is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....
Riding a gorgeous ano orange Turner Burner!

Free entry for Crudders.
This is going to be a get together for Crudders like all the previous gatherings we've done - Glentress and CCC2CCC. So depending on numbers and the accomodation the costs are going to be similar to a normal weekend away with your mates.
Once I'm done with this trip off shore I'll start looking for definates and where we can stay. Most likely venue will be around Eyam as its got decent cottages a few meters away from a half reasonable pub, see earlier posts.I'm going to blow the bank on a new build ( within reason ) NOW DONE!!

More of a "gravity" enduro I think was the idea. I say gravity loosely as we want everyone to be able to ride it, so don't think we'll be throwing you down DH trails on xc bikes As I mentioned before, it might be cool to have categories, so we have 3 winners, overall, Dh and uphill.0 -

Can you come if you're really slow and cr*p, and don't have a fancy bike?0

Being slow and crap is the entry criteria. A fancy skill compensator is just a bonus. As I showed at the ccc2cc, my bike looks lovely when I fall off stationary.0 -

Following the paper trail?0 -
Just thinking whether it might be easier to do this a centre, like very unofficially? Problem with natural stuff is although it's possibly more fun and interesting, it'll be a huge task to get it either taped out or for peeps to learn the route and not everyone has garmins and stuff. Thoughts?0

You seem to have muddled up your quotes there - wasn't me who said that, lol.0 -

From a purely practical point of view, I agree with everything you say there lawman just from the realms of making it possible, but then there's the problem of trail centres being busier than natural stuff at weekend's and therefore non crudders holding up people, from a competitive point of view it needs to be somewhere exclusive/secluded to do that.
But then you can't just go taping off bridleways so I'm interested in what the thoughts are to make it work.0 -
Taping-off shouldn't be needed.
If anybody feels the need to cut some corners or take a shorter route down a bridleway when it's a "mates race", then they are a shyster who should be shunned for ever more!!
I'd envisaged it as "start from here, go through a gate, down past the farm, take a left and follow the BW 'til it meets the road" and that's the stage - type of thing.
IMO Natural will be best.0 -
^ This. Plus, if you end up meeting the red sock brigade on your way down, affecting your time, then that's just part of the fun of the race. Naturally it will only happen on 'the best run of your life', so just swear and curse like a true crudder when it happens!
I'll probably cut corners and take shorter routes, and still end up slower than the others! It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.
