Pro race cross thread *spoilers*
World Cup in Valkenburg live now: http://sports-livezz.com/7/100/
Van der Haar solo ahead giving all the Belgians a kicking
***Mods: can we have a pro cross thread in the Pro Race section? The new cross forum section seems more amateur domestic focused. A cross thread has always been quite popular through the winter in Pro Race - keeps us busy through the winter***

Van der Haar wins. Pauwels 2nd, Walsleben 3rd, Vantornhout 4th.
A climbers cross this, Swiss-style, hilly but not much mud or sand...
Very credible 19th place for Ian Field.0 -
just watching a bit of it now.. looks like a boring course.
Its interesting that most are not on disc brakes though.0 -

Given the length and speed of the descents I think discs probably gave more of an advantage today than they would do on most courses.
Wonder how much say a rider has over what his bike sponsor supplies?0 -

I guess this thread is a good excuse to post the various photos I am coming across of muddy people falling off their bikes.Contador is the Greatest0

How come the men were mostly on disc brakes, and the women were all on canti brakes? I noticed this from looking at the race pics on cyclingnews. Is their budget a reason? I'm sure course conditions were similar for both races.1998 Kona Cindercone in singlespeed commute spec

I can't even begin to work out how to get down that! Even with some proper MTB/DH mud spikes...
Looks like the off camber section at Abergavenny last week in the first round of the National Trophy. The course stakes were having to be replaced every few minutes as another rider slid into the ski netting. Just walking around clearing up afterwards was precarious!0 -

Maybe its a case of looking worse than it is? thinner cross tyres might cut through the surface muck and get some traction on more solid stuff below?0 -
Why is his helmet pristine?

Does nt look like it from the performance of those three though eh? :PWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Tabor World Cup live: http://sports-livezz.com/7/110/
Youngsters Van der Haar and Walsleben again at the front, and all the Belgian superstars again struggling0 -
2 laps to go, Van der Haar and Walsleben riding further away from the rest.
Dull parcours, no mud or sand, and no interesting climbs either. Very fast, all riding around in small groups
Nys all the way back in 21st, in a group with Ian Field0 -
Van der Haar wins the sprint, Walsleben 2nd. Pauwels drops Mourey in the last km after Mourey's done all the chasing work0
