Training in Calpe

Sorry for not using the search....

I am lucky enough to be going to Calpe this winter and plan on training for a couple of weeks.

Has anyone got any advice on clubs/teams/routes etc?

Yep I stayed in Albir in March, went near Calp a few times. Some good climbs near Tarbena and Xalo. Can share some routes if you like.

I have seen a lot of great rides on strava there.

Now looking to see if I can find clubs that train there over xmas

Try these:

Calpe - Teulada - 741/745 Benissa - 749 that loops round to Xalo - 748 Gata - Calpe

Calpe - Jesus Pobre - 732 Pedreguer - 720 Parcent - 715 Callosa - 755 Altea la Vella - Calle Principal de la Sierra to avoid Altea - Calpe

You'll love riding out there, the roads and scenery are stunning and the drivers are very considerate.

Quite a few pro teams go to Calpe for winter training. If you ride up the nearby Coll de Rates you can use the special timing stations to log your time. Be careful though, Allesandro Ballan crashed on the descent and ended up in intensive care!

Head up into the Xalon valley - superb for cycling. Good climb up to the tourist village of Guadelest.

In Calpe for a few days on Wednesday - cannot take the bike though

Nice guys, and a pretty impressive hire bike setup as well
50 euro for a half day one on one guiding and carbon / ultegra bike

Albir Garden hotel is good enough. Don't think I could pay £40ish for a bike ride though
