Thanks dude i will check it out :D:)
  • So i have changed a few things recently. Nothing massive just little tweaks.

Swapped out the Renthal's for some Easton Havoc Carbon's i paid £55 for. Amazingly that saved 140g.
Swapped out the renthal grips for some Atherton Grips i had sitting in my toolbox.

Can't make my mind up between pikes or slants but might get my forks lowered to 160mm instead. Really not sure yet.

Slants do look nice at £340 and Pikes at £525 but not sure whether i can justify the extra expense.

Where have you found the slants for that price mate? I am in exactly your situation, pikes or slants ahhhh
  • I work in a bike shop so perks of the job etc.

Both are excellent, but i just think i will regret it if i dont go for Pikes. If i can hold on a Extra Month then i should be able to afford the Pikes.

Since the last photo the bike has gone on a bit of a diet.

Ive swapped the CCDBC for an RP23 Boost Valve. I actually prefer it with the RP23. Just feels more "poppy". That saved 690g.
I bought a raceface N/W ring as i already had a clutch mech. Chopped the chain device. Saved 200g
Swapped the Superstar Pedals that weighed in at 505g for some nukeproof electron pedals which feel really good and weigh 348g.

Gave it a good clean and took some photos.

    Weight before: 33.06lbs
    Weight after: 30.86lbs

I actually didnt spend any extra money as only paid £115 for the shock and sold my CCDB for £240 so made a little bit.

Heres a before and after comparison:

    Cannock Chase...?
  • Sure is yep.

I worked at the bike shop there for a bit.
  • Big things coming for this tomorrow.

Might break the magical 30lb barrier!

    Pics on their way.
  • So, 4 months down the line, and loving the bike more than ever.

Weight is now at 30.3 lbs. Pretty happy with that as im still running a reverb and no parts that take away from the All Mountain style of the bike.

So, since i bought it the spec had changed quite a lot. Here it is below.

Frame: Orange Alpine 160, Striker Orange Team Colour, Medium
Shock: Fox RP23. Kashima CTD BV on the way.
Forks: Fox 34 2013 with 2014 internals and 15mm Axle. Brand new CSU.
Wheels: Stans Flows with Hope Pro 2 Evo in Team Green Colour.
Brakes: Hope Race Evo M4's in Team Green with 203,180 Rotors.
Tyres: Specialized Purgatory Control Front and Ground Control S-Works Rear, both Tubeless.
Drivetrain: XT Cranks, with XT Clutch Rear Mech, XTR Shifter, Renthal 32t Ring and E-13 Chainguide.
    Seatpost: Rockshox Reverb.

Heres a few photos in the latest spec:

Not the best quality but it shows what it needs too.

You could save some more weight if you got some lighter brakes and one of those narrow-wide rings and ditched the chain guide altogether.

  • I was tempted by lighter brakes but if im honest, i quite like the colour. Unless someone wanted to buy them?

Narrow/Wide is next on the list.

I've just stuck one on mine, kept the chain guide back plate on there and the top slider is in my hydration pack, just in case it's not as good as the hype. Only fitted it today, so not had a chance to test it yet. I'll report back if I manage to get out tomorrow!

That's a nice looking bike by the way.

  • Few more tweaks and swaps recently.

Got a set of 800mm wide Enve bars on with a Haven 55mm stem.

Have put a rubber queen on the front and Purgatory out back but the purgatory is coming off tomorrow as its quite draggy at the back and a S-Works Ground Control is going on.

    Still, 29 lbs 14oz.

  • Where did you get the orange fork stickers from?

Weight measurements are usually done w/o pedals so technically your bike is even lighter!
  • Slik Graphics
Did you apply them yourself? And were they tricky to do?
  • So i went on a bit of a spending spree and have now got the bike exactly where i want it.

Now sporting Pikes, Hope T-Rex, Flow EX wheels with pro 2 evo hubs, XTR Brakes with Ice Tech rotors, Hope Purple pedals, spacers, seat clamp and top cap, Mavic Crossmax Charge front tyre, Zee mech.

Rode the Dyfi on it, came 103rd out of 488 in my category so not too bad.

    Heres a few photos.

    What does everyone reckon?

Great bike, I do love Oranges. I personally wouldnt have gone for that colour pedals, seat collar, stem etc, but each to their own.

not sure about the purple accents I'd have def gone with straight orange and black but I reckon that's about as good as one of those is gonna look! (that's a compliment btw :D )

And yeah the Pikes look sick.

I like it but I'd have stuck with the green hope hubs as they're somewhat rare
  • I was tempted to keep the hubs but i was offered an amount i couldnt turn down.

Paid £200 for the flow ex's and then sold just the green hubs for nearly £300. The rims were battered so it was a no brainer for me.

Good price! But not surprising, I haven't seen many around
  • So Fedex delivered to me at work today with a Hope Hoops Box.

They contained some Flow Ex's with Purple Pro 2 evo's.

    Heres a photo.

Pretty much there now. Might go for the brakes and rotors too as working in a bike shop can be pretty handy with prices etc ;)

    Photo. What do you reckon?
