I would very much like a go on that!
not sure if you are joking but that's a 4 bar linkage.
He knew full well when he said "this is how you make a single pivot" that someone would question it, and he would get to explain why techincally it is a single pivot.0 -

See now. Unless that works loads better than a DW link or 4 bar or whatever I don't see the point. One of the reasons I like the idea of Orange bikes (I don't have one, and I've never ridden one mind) is there really is only one pivot to tighten, keep clean and replace. It's one of the main reasons I decided on the Rockrider for my first toe dip into the world of full suss, it's gone pretty well. I'm unsure what to go for next time with me being so poor, quite possibly going back to a hard tail.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

My Nukeproof has a linkage driven single pivot and it is very good. You get some of the characteristics of a normal single pivot but with a more controlled leverage rates.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

its still a 4 bar linkage design unlike the orange 5 single pivot. There are 4 bearings in meta not one so its not the same design even though the wheel arc moves like the mono pivot design of the orange. Its not a horst link 4 bar like my ghost is which I suspect that's what you thought I ment
The horst link, the 4 bar linkage (faux bar) and the single pivot are different designs and have different pros and cons0 -

Maybe he does like Victorian engineering, but the guy can ride the wheels off a bike0 -

WMB did a good article a few years back explaining each design and the pros/cons of each. Personally I'm a big DW/VPP fan, never really got on with Horst link bikes but ridden a few faux bars I like, Cove Hustler, various Rocky Mountains etc0 -
I've never ridden a 4 bar or faux bar properly, but the DW link bikes I've owned (a sunday and my reign x) have ridden incredibly.0

Which suspension design category does mine fit into (Boardman Team FS)? Just curious.0

Where is the pivot?
Chain stay 4 bar, seat stay single pivot."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I agree. Not unless McGuiness and Dunlop retire anyway.0 -

He isn't that fast either, I don't really get the interest in his mountain biking activities. Although he does have a good accent.0 -

After the huge wait for the new dh bike I think most people were a bit underwhelmed that it was a 222 Evo Evo Evo Evo. But they fixed the shock rate problem by moving the front shock mount, and they fixed the cracking frames problem by making sure nobody bought it.RockmonkeySC wrote:He isn't slow on a mountain bike either.
He's no slouch, he was knocking out 6:30 runs at fort william which OK is well off the pro pace but still more than respectable (that's on the slow version of the track too). Though I beat him so he can't be that good.
4th place in the Strathpuffer solo, most folks just wouldn't do that never mind come 4th.Uncompromising extremist0
