the BB'ers carried themselves very well and totally disproved the stereotypes that you have of us.

You guys do sometimes make me laugh, I'll give you that.

That, and the fact that you still have a bunch of angry wasps jammed in your manginas is really brightening my otherwise rather grey Friday.

Well we did, we weren't the one's to lower the tone of this thread with bad language because we realise that this is not an appropriate place for that

Yet again you resort to personal attacks which just says it all as to the sort of person you are

Who was it who got this thread going again at 12.16 this morning? Oh yes, YOU

You said 'Think I'll just leave it there' but you haven't, let it go dude, it's over

And now the sanctimony. Love it. Love the schizo switch between the two even more. Keep it up!
^ degenerating the thread once again ^

Apart from maybe one person, I think all would agree that this thread has run it's course and is either locked or deleted.

Yep, this thread is finished all that's happening is that it gives Greg a platform to air his misguided views.

    It really is pointless

PLEASE lock this thread as whatever anyone says will just result in Gregg launching another personal attack on people.

I come here less now that their here. Rather not mix with them over there unless I absolutely have to. We should have a sign:

    No Cake Stop
    No Bottom Bracket
    AND
    No Dogs.

You seem to have missed out a few racial groups, a few religious groups and maybe some nationalities as well.

Come on Mods, get it sorted.
Thanks for bringing that to our attention Yossie. Shocking!

    Gregg - GIVE UP.

I conceded ground (on behalf of the BB bacterium) to which I do not have any control over, contrary to your misguided belief.
Yossie held out an open invite as an olive branch which is more than can be said of any concessions on you and the Holier-than-thou brigade have offered.

If you don't like BB - don't go there. There is many other parts of the forum to visit. Go and have a go at the Crudcatchers - you will not get any concessions whatsoever and quite rightly too.

We will all crawl back under whatever dark damp stone we crawled out of and have done with it but not if you and DDD keep regurgitating it. Reminds me of a line from Shakespeare:

So we can't have a couple of harmless mocking threads but you sit there at your keyboards and start discussions like this:

    viewtopic.php?f=40012&t=12943861

Come on mods, if bringing up tragic events such as these for "discussion" on a bicycle forum is deemed fine and upstanding behaviour then I'm a banana.

What a strange example to choose.

Its not a strange example to choose - it was the first one at the top of the page this morning.

I'm sorry, but you do seem a bit blinkered to the faults within your own home .......

BBers are sort of semi self policing (norks, yes, mocking, yes, but no discussions re that picked out, no racism, anti - Semitism, etc) - it seems that communters hide under a bushel of self sanctified respectability but have posts about, well, such as the above example and think its all ok.

The reason I said it was a strange example is because

    (a) The "tragic events" didn't get discussed - except by a couple of BB'ers, very briefly. The discussion shot off on a tangent almost immediately (bourbons v custard creams, I think).
    (b) why are some aspects of current affairs off limits for conversation? Seems a bit odd to me. Trivialising it, sure, that's not on. But what was invited was a serious discussion, which on this occasion no one was up for. What's the problem with that?

I think you'll find that I haven't tried to re-open the argument in this thread. Since it was re-opened the vast majority of the posts have been from the BB Gang taking a pop at me and the opinions that I am apparently neither entitled to hold nor express. I don't particularly mind or care about that; it's all good sport (although I confess to having been a little mocking of the accumulations of foam around the mouth, but WTH, I'll take my fun where I can find it). Must admit though, I would have thought the place to have a pop at me was in BB, rather than here.

    <thinks to have a look at BB>

    Oh, wait...
I conceded ground (on behalf of the BB bacterium) to which I do not have any control over, contrary to your misguided belief.

Yeah, that's not going terribly well, is it? Why you think my belief is misguided when you claimed to speak for them is a bit puzzling, but there we are.

    Hmmm...

Yossie - Poor example as it was started by one of the BB 'group'. Just to get that out of the way.

Question: given that I post in BB (not commonly but do like to read the posts) and possibly posted one of the most popular images on the 'Big Girls' thread (when it was the knitwear one...) but I also actively post in Commuter Chat (and a few other forums) where does that leave me?

Oh wait... someone more laid back about forums that most everyone else posting in this thread.

Yep - you see, the thing I see is people slinging mud left and right and simply proving nothing except that they refuse to show any respect for each other. People's choice of words reinforces this (I dislike the word Communter: it's tribalising people who post in another section, and in my opinion is borderline racist (as in: of an ilk) using that word in the Commuter Chat / General forums is just nasty) and it keeps being used in this thread.

However, the responses from other parties are just as poor as they are generally demeaning and supercilious.

Seriously folks - all of you... just let it go. This isn't about BB / CC it's about a bunch of people simply not getting on, on an online Forum.

Commuting Chat is light hearted banter from people with a common experience when cycling. Bottom Bracket is edgier banter from people who cycle.

Keep the posts in both within the bounds and that's it. I do both. It ain't hard.

I do think this thread has now run its course and is time to lock it.

As before, let's not antagonise each other. All sections will be remaining open - please use them as intended.
