The ideal should be that we build a bike the way we would like to.
I want to have choice and in some cases as pinarello has stated that could be costly.

The existing rear aero brakes are shockingly spongy on the madone, it's a good job ultegra versions are available.

If after market versions of that new direct frame mounts are not made available and they are sub standard it could be disappointing.

I am all for developments like this but not if it is at the expense of something as important as braking performance

I don't know where the '10 tiles the price' idea comes from, but its called progress. Bikes are way more varied than when I started cycling. Think how many BB standards there are (used to be just english or Italian), how many different headsets, pedal systems etc. if these new brakes are better we'll all be riding them eventually.
Main thing is, it keeps me in work :D

10 tiles the price - just poetic license

All those BB configurations, what a pain in the neck.

The BB's are a nightmare. I have no idea whatsoever of what I will need to buy when my BB 90 wears out or I need a new chain set. I'm all for advancements but at least decide on a universal standard.

Weird that Trek have developed a new brake when everything points to a switch to discs soon...

It only points to disc's if people decide to buy them. Right now they are the thing. Couple of years from now who knows.

Doubt the UCI will make that change anytime soon and I certainly won't bother for many years to come.
I personally won't for a main road bike (For a commuter or cross bike I would)

Only reason I say is all the main manufacturers seem to have a (Usually high end) disc bike in their catalogue, also the guy who works for sky on here was showing pictures of a Dogma with discs the other day

The pro scene is usually driven by what the manufacturers want to sell as far as I can tell. If they can create a new standard so everyone thinks they need a new bike they will (See 29ers/650B for MTB)

direct mount brakes are claimed to be more powerful, and there are good engineering reasons to believe this claim. However on the rear it's debatable as to whether you need any more power anyway as current rear brakes have plenty to spare. But I think there's an argument for having direct mount on the front.

[needless to say I'm on hydro discs so spank the lot of you when it comes to braking  ]

The BB situation will settle down in time. It's always the same - new standards come in thick and fast then the market goes with (usually) the best overall solution. I suspect this will be BB86 but we'll see.

MadFiber wheels? Or has someone else started producing them?
I'm left handed, if that matters.

I still can't get used to him at IAM. I liked the frame he got as a birthday present at last year's tour. This paint job looks a bit cheap.

I'm not a fan of that tattoo either but I believe it's better than the one it covered up!

The shoes I can deal with, but that tat IS nasty.

    All tats are nasty IMO

Yeah, but you're young, right? I thought young and tattoos went together like fish and chips these days. Seems that whole bunches of young people are starting to cover their bodies with them lately.
I will agree though about "nasty". I have two and they are about 45 years old AND nasty. Gotta say though that they were really cool when I got them. Or at least I thought so.

    Yeah that pic is horrible.

Tattoos are ok, within reason. I have a friend who passed away initials on my ankle. I like it.

Isn't the white one the new Trek (not sure it has a name yet) while the others are Madones?

Yes, tattoos just seem a bit trying too hard. What's wrong with their own natural skin?

I guess the loud kit is all about being noticed, whether it looks good or not.

I have some tattoos. My arms Inside my biceps and outside and 1 forearm. I don't like them on the calf they look a bit odd when they are that big otherwise I like them. It's quite addictive. If I had the time and inclination I would have a load more done.

Just personal really. Lots of people think they're really cool and badass but I think they just look like a bored doodle most of the time. And I really don't find them attractive on girls at all. In fact I find them pretty grossly unattractive. But I'm just different :)

Nothing wrong with being different. NOT going with the flow and NOT doing, buying, or being what and / or who you're "supposed" to be is a good thing.
