  • I also had a problem with pawls not engaging. I sent the wheel back to cycle division who were okay to deal with ( I was glowing in my praise earlier) but they refused to send a replacement freehub without inspecting the wheels first. To be fair they got them sent back the same day they received them and replaced the freehub free of charge. At 289 they're a bargain. Seriously fast wheels just don't expect hassle free maintenance from them. They're good weather / race wheels.

  • I see cycle Division have launched a new cero AR30 Evo Wheelset. Anyone know what rim they're using?
  • For those interested it looks as though the rims on the new cero AR30 EVO are Alexrim pro30 and the hub is Powerway R36. Interesting that they chose to move on from kinlin and chosen for the rim and hub on the new model.

No idea if you could build them any cheaper. For that price I think I'd be more inclined to go for a set of mavic Kysirum elite. Just my two cents.

I've had the Elites on my Canyon Ultimate for 3 years (ridden in all weathers) and they have been a good wheelset, very durable until recently when the rear slowly began to fail.

On Friday I picked up some brand new AR24's from Cycledivision and having done 3 rides over the weekend I'm really impressed, for the price they are great and certainly feel every bit as good at the Mavics for a lot less money. I obviously can't comment on durability but Cycledivision also showed me how simple the hub is to service so that does bode well for the future.

Supermurph was this the Ar24 Evo (i.e. the brand new one)?

Seems a bit of a stretch from £300 for the old AR30, to £500 for the new AR30 Evo. £500 is a lot of money, are they worth that much?! Although they are only 1433g, with a much wider rim, meaning 34g extra but quite a bit wider. Thoughts from anyone?
  • LWLondon - if you break down the components of the new AR30 i'm not sure they're worth £500 given that Superstar Components are selling similar wheels, albeit in shite colours, for less than half the price. Perhaps they'll have a sale and discount them heavily which seems to be de rigueur.

Its a pretty competitive market at that price point, and I dare say you could get some nice handbuild hoops for that price. As posted earlier, the rim is made by Alexrim ( Pro 30) and the hubs are more than likely made by one of the holy Taiwanese trinity of Novatec / Powerway or Chosen. 6061 alloy is preferred by Powerway.

FWIW, the original AR30 hub ( made by Chosen) was a bit lightweight and couldn't cope in in the wet hence the reason cycle division have a disclaimer.

Bottom line is- the new 2017 AR30 will be a nice wheelset but you could probably find something better for that sort of cash.

    Yes the 24 Evo: https://www.cycledivision.co.uk/product ... elset-2017

I'm really liking them, I doubt you can find better for the cash.
  • Are there people who have experience with Cero AR30 (EVO) wheels, they look very interesting now?

I have had mine for 7 months and they have been fantastic. Run true, no hub issues and tubeless has been flawless with Schwalbe Pro Ones and now Hutchinson Fusion 5 All Seasons for winter. For what it is worth, they replaced Mavic Ksyrium Elites and they are least as good and also come tubeless ready so are definitely my preferred wheel.

Any comments on how the AR30 will take 28mm tyres?
