The same reason for both - blanded up versions of, in one case, real 'folk' music and in the other, proper fermented apple juice.
For the real deal, without getting too "real" (as in "unpalatable") listen to (say) The Men They Couldn't Hang, or maybe Richard Thompson, for the latter, pop down to Bristol and ask a local where to get a decent pint of said liquid.
Glad to see this is still going.
Toyotas are still in, BTW.
Today's entry: Edam cheese and 'mild' cheddar. Revolting, texture like soap but with less flavour.

I assume everyone who watches it is boring and sexually repressed, possibly my girlfriend too. Luckily I've got her to watch Breaking Bad, Battlestar Galactica and Game of Thrones, where people you actually like are ruthlessly dispatched. I assume the toughest Downtown gets is if someone passes the Port the wrong way round the table or there is no clotted cream left for afternoon tea.
Mumford and Sons - Probably liked by the same people who like Downtown Abbey. Awful faux-emotional songs that sound like they should only ever be used to sell Irish Cider in summer. Again I assume people who like them hate music and possibly have a deep rooted disdain for everything that is good and right in the world.
How I Met Your Mother - Barney Stinson has given lads with no personality an excuse to wear suits on nights out, pose into cameras and pretend they have something about them. Probably have never actually chatted to a girl.

My gripe with Doctor Who especially in it's current incarnation is how it's an acceptable level of sci-fi to like. I've suggested watching so many other series and people just seem to not want to be seen as too geeky, despite it being a kids show with the same bad guys on some sort of rota system for which one comes back and has a pop."A cyclist has nothing to lose but his chain"

I disagree - BLTs (hot or cold) rock
Not to be confused with DLT, who's definitely not flavour of the month....
