I ride a road bike through a city every day to get to work. It's not that surprising and to be fair, more considerate than most bus drivers.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

What is? Deliberately running a cyclist off the road and admitting drink driving?

voodoo hoodoo0 -
Just read the daily mail and the moron has been charged with driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after an accident, and failing to report an accident. YES GOOD RESULT.0

-
no mention of any assault, the story is in the dail mail if you want to read it. she has been a very stupid girl as her premiums will go up now.0

Some of the comments, and how much they have been 'liked' on the Daily Mail website about the incident are a bit disappointing.
Apparently cyclists have never taken exams and have no clue of the laws of the road, besides the fact that most cyclists probably drive and enjoy cycling as a sport/hobby. Its also funny that alot of cyclists on the road probably have bikes worth more money than the cars overtaking them too.0 -

It was the same with the last stupid little girl! I cannot believe the idiocy of the comments. The road tax issue is always a funny one. No one told them their is no such thing? Some people are sub human scum0 -
People moaning about cyclists not paying road tax is particularly idiotic.
Road tax is based on the harmful emissions a vehicle emits, some cars with low emissions and stop start technology pay no tax, so why on earth should cyclists?0 -

Only in recent years (since 2000), and that's completely ar*e about face too, since it's based purely on the current ridiculous obsession with carbon emmissions, so diesels pay less road tax than a comparable petrol engined car, despite the diesels being far worse polluters. The change to emmisssions based road tax was meant to punish drivers of "gas guzzlers", but did nothing of the sort. The people who drive Range Rovers, Bentleys (or whatever) don't give a toss that their road tax went up, but the people it really punished were drivers of regular family cars, who now pay far more than they used to under the old system - it was just yet another way of f*****g over the majority for yet more tax, while dressing it up in a wafer thin veneer of eco warrior tree hugging shite.0 -
I suggest a strongly worded letter to the Daily Mail.

Stop ranting for a momen.... There, that's better.
How does any of that actually matter in this context?0 -

But everybody knows it as "road tax", since you're paying to use the roads (the third world state of which is testament to the fact that only approximately 4% of the revenue raised from "road tax" is spent on their upkeep).0 -

It was a relevant observation re the quoted post.0 -
No, not really. Cyclists pay tax too, which goes towards road maintenance. Cyclists who don't have a car, simply don't pay vehicle excise duty.0

Kowalski675 wrote:But everybody knows it as "road tax".
Dude, that is the weakest justification, and you know it!
What everyone calls it, isn't what it is. Koala's ain't bears, ladybirds ain't birds, and 50% aren't ladies, and 'road tax' ain't the same as VED. VED doesn't pay for roads and upkeep, that's what taxes are for (and everyone pays those).
But I suspect you already knew that. How would I write my own epitaph? With a crayon - I'm not allowed anything I can sharpen to a sustainable point.
