I have seen a fair few tyres of all brands start to break or tear on the sidewall. A lot of these are caused by brake block misalignment from eventual wear so they touch the tyre and not the brake surface. This happens alot and the rider refuses to admit it. Check your brakes don't touch the tyre instead of the rim. What may of been lined up perfectly a few months back will not be with a fair amount of use.

Yes there will be the odd defect tyre but usually its brakes touching the sidewall

After 6yrs of riding I've had GP4000s last for two weeks but most last until the treads gone. As with any tire luck of the draw. Im digging the Schwalbe one at the mo. Better tyre all round in my opinion.

I always used Shwalbe One and Ultremo before that. They roll superb and never let me down - in mainland Europe mainly German and Dutch roads. I came back to the UK and they get ripped to shreds on the crap roads. I ended up turning to Conti cos they are a lot tougher on poor surfaces. I do have one set of Schwalbe one on my Zonda wheels and have lasted a while but are starting to square off a bit and losing their grip. They have never punctured mind and they owe me nothing but I'm not sure I will use them on UK roads again which is a shame
