Ooh, getting v close to winning the point there. Sassenheim is correct, a suburb of / next door to Leiden.

[Edit. Forgot to add, suspicion of googling means you don't get the win outright. :) ]

The event? Not a bike race. And not primarily a motor bike / moped event though clearly these were involved in some manner. Which leaves?
  • Kings Day? The only googling was the name of the crane operator which is about the only clue in the photo ;)

  • Well I guess it must be Sassenheim Flower Parade or whatever the Dutch translation is.

I think some of you might not be taking this seriously.

It is indeed the annual bulb flower parade in North Holland, aka Bloemencorso Bollenstreek, runs from Noordwijk to Haarlem every April and comes through Sassenheim on outskirts of Leiden, where these pictures were taken. We were on a football tour couple years ago, had a match very (too) early on a Saturday morning and afterwards came across the parade. Thought Mr Polis with his bouquet was sweet.

So win goes to the tax dodging Eeyore from the Channel Islands, even if there was resort to googling. To you sir.

    Your granny's but 'n ben?

Those non-Scots not familiar with the term but 'n ben should seek out the D C Thomson comic strip The Broons, a staple of that national institution The Sunday Post.
