    All good stuff ...

Nothing to do with SKY finding a way to get onto the Olympic gravy train whilst not being an official commercial partner? It was a canny move to find a way into the biggest sporting event in British history ...

    That's the backdoor part ...

But carry on as you were ... t'was all comedy gold ...
Lots of sportsmen at the Olympics had sponsors. There's nothing sneaky or 'backdoor' about it.

Isn't that the same argument Lance is using to justify his actions?

No, it's not. It's not in any way whatsoever. The two things are completely unconnected.

In the same vein as Godwin's and Danth's/Parker's Laws, etc, I propose there should now be 'Crank's Law' - in honour of Crankbrother and his (usually) American brethren.

This states something along the lines that any conversation regarding a high level performance/victory in cycling will sooner or later inevitably lead to some bitter/idle commentary from a bitter/idle commentator - usually claiming never to have actually been a fan of Lance's, anyway - resulting in comparisons to Lance Armstrong and his doping past.

    Reductio ad Armstrongum

Any such invocations mean the argument is immediately lost.

Somehow Brailsford seems less annoying than the riders ... which says a lot about the riders in team SKY/GB ...

I especially think he's been better this year without the additional stress of the Olympics and he can just get on with the pro cycling team for a couple of years ...

His only issue is that SKY really want the GB connection and that effects the pro team (eg. Thomas ... he doesn't perform to the level he should/could because he's conflicted ... annoyingly SKY are sponsoring GB via the back door so he's allowed to continue ...)

No idea what might be annoying about the Sky riders? I have spoken to Thomas, Stannard and Froome over the last year, and all were nice ordinary blokes who were quite happy to talk and pose for pictures with my daughter, despite being in the midst of the Tour or the Vuelta.

Anyway. Brailsfords book. I hope it is not just a management oracle, but has lots about his early days in the WCPP. The rise to domination of the track team, overtaking the Aussies and the French in that discipline. An insight into the development of equipment and clothing and, hopefully, lots of anecdotes regarding Shane Sutton.

A complete overview of the work , done and on going, by the Secret Squirrel Club would be lovely, thank you. What do you mean, no chance? :D

I met Brailsford just after the end of the TDF, really nice guy :-)

Glad to see Crankbrother is still at it, not been on here much recently but just thought I'd have a flick through a few threads, never fails to disappoint!

I would rather Boar Man told us his story...

Haha, SOMEONE must know who he is!
  • He'll get someone else to do the work and will just take the credit for it.

Much like what he does at Sky / BC.

It's the bits left out that will be interesting.

I agree, I'd almost like a scientific paper/journal of what they did/do and how they came up with the idea...

Think Rich's guess is more likely though....
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

It'll probably be the usual ghost-written 356 page hardback, with a few pages of photo library images inserted within. Dan Friebe nipped home early from the Tour for some top secret writing project, didn't he?
