Just turned up from Taiwan in less than 2 weeks, 31.6mm 110mm drop with 2 positions, £57 with free delivery. Initial tests show it is solid with no play and a nice smooth action.

    What's wrong with trigger shifters?

Nothing wrong with triggers but I love these new Sram Gripshifters, two of my bikes have triggers, two have Gripshifters. The gripshifters have a very light action and give lightening quick shifts, they also cut down on clutter and are very light weight.

Been very happy with the X0 twist shifter on my commuter, have considered it for the MTB but it would mean swapping the rear mech from Shimano.

Bit of progress made today, my tubeless conversion of the wheels/tyres seems to have worked as they are still rock hard. Chainset is assembled and ready to go on. The saddle is only a temp as I have a red/black one on the way.

Had some spare time today so I got the 456 finished. Very pleased with the finished result, everything works as it should and after a quick pavement test the bike feels nimble and solid. I'm going to try to take it for a test ride later if time permits.

Love the maintained red/black colour scheme, very OE, though red on-one stickers on the wheels would really ace it!

    Hi - looking a nice build ....

Can you tell me how tall the exposed seat post is - above the seat-clamp, with the post as you have it (fully inside the seat tube)....

i.e. from the seat clamp to the saddle rails?

What are the 'steps' you can drop it in .. 1 inch drop or something ?

    Thanks in advance.

With the post fully inserted the distance from top to bottom of saddle rail to of seat clamp is 195mm. The post fully extended has a 110mm drop and it stops at the mid point (55mm).

Here is a pic from yesterdays maiden voyage, took the bike for a dawdle around the Clayton Vale track. Bike was great, used the forks in 120mm mode for most of the ride only opening them up for any steep bits/ drops. I swapped the Tmars dropper post for a Ks Beam remote model with a SDG Formula FX I-beam saddle, I only swapped because I got such a good deal on the Ks post and SDG seat (£105 for both brand new !!!) Love the bike and can't wait to get it to some proper hills.

  • Great job. I really like the red n black c456's, and that dropper post might be going on my, "don't tell the missus", shipping list.

Let us know how you get in with it - and the dropper post.
