this is what iv ordered. does it sound any good0 -
Terrible fork. Nasty transmission. Rubbish brakes. Bargain basement wheels. Frame is ok but there are better bikes available for £600. All the bikes on that website are very over priced. Just pick the prettiest turd.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Take the cash and go to Halfords or Decathlon.I don't do smileys.

you'll get a better specced bike from Decathlon for £600 than you will from that list*
*I haven't looked at all the bikes on the list but if the Rockhopper's anything to go by they're all stinkers!"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Of course. It'll be fine for that. Just, you could get far more bike for far less money (as above) and if you really get the bug and start venturing further and going faster you'll be on the upgrade path far sooner"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

If all you want is someone to recommend an overpriced, underspecced, frankly rather nasty bike, ok - the Rockhopper is excellent.I don't do smileys.

i fail to see why the spesh rockhopper is a nasty bike, if speshes bikes were that bad specialized would be out of business, not one of the biggest manufacturers around, the only bad thing is value for money, too be honest you cant really beat decathlon and boardman bikes for value for money, but as you have already bought the spesh bike its probably not what you want to hear, the rockhopper has a good frame well worthy of upgrading at a later date, i would enjoy your bike then gradually start upgrading various parts as they wear out or when you find you need better parts as you gain more experience0
-
It's a hell of a lot of money to spend on an adequate frame with a lot of cheap bits hanging off it.
Point is for a lot less you can get a better bike that doesn't need instantly upgrading.
Spesh make some excellent bikes, but their bottom end ones are not.
The name sells.I don't do smileys.

The only bit on the bike that is Spesh is the frame, all the rest you can directly compare to other bikes to which they are also fitted, if you do that you'll see the 'hopper is about £300-400 overpriced, all the time Spesh can make an extra profit of that much from gullible fools, then they will.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
so now all people who buy the bottom end spesh bikes are gullable fools, what a load of shit, not every one who buys bikes has the inclination to do internet searches on the value for money of mountain bikes , or indeed gives a shit, all most people are interested in is buying a bike from a well known manufacturer, that they like , i totally agree most of the big manufacturers bikes are not exactly good value for money, but according to your views they are all fools, what about people who buy bmw cars there not exactly good value for money either, in fact most mechanics will tell you there overpriced and these days not exactly reliable, in the same vain people who buy top end spesh full sus bikes must be gullable fools aswell as there not exactly good value either, the trouble with these bike forums is that if people dont fall in with the general view of the self proclaimed expert bikers there all fools, in fact these days how many things we buy are value for money not much0

This is not a low end Spesh mind - it is one of Speshes mid range models. But it does have the spec of a much lower end model, there is no escaping it is dire value for money. Other Speshes may not be, but this model is.
Part of that is due to the fact it is a new 2014 model - things are getting worse value. Nevertheless I could never recommend it, and you can get far, far better for the money. The frame has been downgraded from the M4 stuff too - in fact the builders Merida, make boardman frames too, and they are just as good, if not better!0
