^muscle can't convert to fat. It'll get soft without sufficient exercise - and that same lack of exercise can cause you to have an excess of calories so store that as fat.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

Do people still do the 'Atkins' diet?
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles

Strangely seems to have become less popular since said Atkins dropped dead from some kind of cardiac event. Probably.

If you don't race, then it could work out ok for you.

If you do race each week and train hard, forget it. You'll ride like a big bag of sh*t

I do race every week and have had a good experience with this diet. This year I’ve dropped from 95kg to 85kg. And I’ve been racing on fast days - shorter time trials and circuit races.

My results on fast days have included a top 10 in an E123 crit and a 22 minute 10 on my road bike. I also did several PBs on the Concept2 rower while fasting.

I had a go at the 5:2 diet for a while. I too thought I'd feel rubbish on the 600 cal days but actually found the reverse to be true; I certainly felt more lively in the afternoons.

I was more curious about the other alleged benefits than weight loss, but sadly have no way of measuring them. I'm still alive though.

In the end I decided I need to eat at work just to relieve the boredom :(

I switched to a mostly but not completely vegan diet in Feb and lost 22lbs I still continued drinking plenty of good quality real ales and eating meat veg n stuff.

I think key is to cut down and cut out crap not to starve yourself thats frankly stupid and dangerous, we in the western world eat too much, we've been and are being conditioned to eat more. Problem is its hard not to cave in and snack, I set myself a goal of completing the Marmotte sportive and knew losing weight whilst riding harder would be the best way to ensure I finished in one piece.

No takeways, no sweets, no fast foods, no soft drinks everything else is ok.
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
