Cool that's good to hear, not sure what the delivery times are on them but there's no real rush...
Need to sort out spokes now..
Do you know if the king hubs come with skewers?0 -
No they don't, King don't make skewers.
Mt Zoom again do really nice lightweight skewers, replaced some KCNC ones I had which scared me somewhat. Otherwise Shimano if you just want something that works, but weighs a bit more.0 -
cool cheers, would like something decent looking thats not too weighty...
Seatpost arrived today...looks quite good

Do you instagram everything? ha
Nice build, looks like it's gonna be a good one0 -
-
I'm also guilty of the gram0
-
More bits means more instagram
hopefully the big box of stuff arrives tomorrow...0 -
Odd brake choice for a race build.0
-
race/use alot build
yea, not the lightest....im really not fussy for "ulitmate" weight really!
a mate has these on his 29er and i really liked them, so why not, i suppose thats all that matters lol0 -
Fair enough! Not light to start with, and you've even made them a good chunk heavier with braided hoses ;-)
As long as you're happy with them! I think in this day and age most race kit is still pretty versatile. I've only got the one MTB, and it's a 20lb FS bike!0 -
yea the braided hose was just a bling upgrade as never had them lol...with a weight sacrifice of course...nah they aint light, but ach im not all the fussed.
my zestys a heavy beast so this is going to still be a massive amount lighter0 -
go XX1, i just built a bike up & ridden it all over Colorado & never had to get off once......& im fat!
i had an one one carbon race with 100 forks, if i was building a lurcher i would have 120's, not much more weight but would ride a hell of a lot better0 -
100mm max fork on the lurcher.
and too late...XTR and 99% of the other parts should arrive from Ireland tomorrow0 -
I think that's a mistake as sales manager Matt told me they would take a 120 with a slack set, just checked web & it says 100, that's oddhttp://www.pinkbike.com/photo/4707060/

ride it like u stole it0 -
not sure then!
i think 100mm will be fine for what i need though, had a good 30miles on a carbon 29er S-works stumpjumper lastnight on a 90mm brain fork...nice nippy feeling bike and the first time ive had some decent mileage on a 29er, if the lurcher is simmilar ill be fairly happy0 -
My mrs has a Lurcher with 100mm Rebas, I have the race also with 100mm Rebas, the lurcher is a much more compliant ride I don't think you will be disappointed.0

some other stuff arrived today

first problem....fitting a 9mm carbon rail saddle to a seatpost that uses 7mm rail clamps....had to order a 7x9mm one from Germany at a cost of £40....jesus christ! :evil:0
-
I knew when I saw this thread on "new posts" that there would be a whole new load of instagoodness! Wasn't dissapointed. Looks schweet!0
-
will make a nice bike, dont do what i did with my carbon race though, i put heli-tape on frame & when it got scruffy i decided to change top tube bit, i warmed it & took it off carefully & it took the laquer off in one big sheet! oops!0
-
yea ive read about helitape stripping paint before! :shock:0
-
The heli-taping issues are why my 456 is the bare satin carbon one! Mind you having said it all you have to do is look at it and it scratches!! This will be a very nice build, will echo the 120mm forks and slackset though, looks like it would make a great longer travel thrash bike!0

Cheers
Got BB pressed in and cranks on, me has fitted yesterday, need to wait till later today to press the headset in as I don't have a press myself so a mates coming up with his, hopefully have a fair bit done tonight
0 -
not much progress...dont have a headset press soborrowing one today, hopefully get more done to it
no rush0 -
Hammer and a block of wood works just fine....no really it does!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
-
probably would, but for the sake of just waiting a few hours for the press....plus i want the writing lined up and straight0
-
now pressed...
had to improvise with a rotor as the bottom cup was too large for the press to hold onto
no problems
0 -
You've not lined the writing up on the bottom cup!0
-
haha i didnt want king right in front, rather to the corners if you get me, it lines up at the back and is even all the way round0
-
Steerer cut and everything roughly bolted up and ran cable wise bar shifters
