Here is my new RT-58 Sportive road bike which has only just been released by planet x, i've been out on it once and has a super comfy ride and looks pretty stealthy with the logo on the underneath. It's pretty light aswell for the price at 7.3kg without pedals. I will be hoping to upgrade the wheels and pedals pretty soon to something a quite a bit lighter.
Sram force front and rear deralier
Sram S950 carbon chainset
Planet x ultralight forged brakes
Sram red shifters
Specialized Toupe Gel Saddle and 105 pedals
Ritchey WCS alloy seatpost
PG1050 Cassette
PC1051 chain
Planet X AL30 Wheelset with maxxis tyres + tubes - will be changing both soon. Changed the decals on the wheels, looking much better than the stock planet x ones.
Planet X Strada lite compact bars

That is very sexy. I'm going to check one out when next visiting the outlaws in Sheffield. What are Planet X like customer services wise?

Customer services are very good, and kept me up to date with my order from when it would be shipped, when it was made and the hour it was delivered. I also asked the main differences between the rt58 and 57 and they were quick and helpful to reply :D

Yeah i agree and will upgrade to a 1500g wheelset soon, either dura ace or a set of campag zondas or something as they seem to be bombroof. Any others?

Planet X carbon tubular 50s or their clincher 60s are well worth a shout and very good prices.

Thanks guys and yeah i was thinking of a pair of ksyrium elites, or the planet x 52mm pair, but do the deep rims help alot over 20mph? or is it best to get a lighter pair like the ksyriums?

Nah not yet, when I change things I probably will. It's pretty standard at the mo. It's very similar to yours apart from saddle/post/tyres/pedals and full force groupset.

Picked mine up on Friday. Struggled setting up the brakes (Planet x pigs) and Sram Force front derailleur yesterday but more or less sorted today. Got a rattle somewhere but only a minor one. Also fell off after toe overlap caught me out at a junction - none of my other bikes have it. I was cockily sitting with the front wheel sideways and tried to set off fast at the lights. Doh

Currently doesn't seem to need the top chainring trim (so why is it there?) but no trim at all on Sram 2012 for the small chainring. A quick net search seems to suggest its normal to get chainrub on the smallest 3 sprockets but I'm going to need to spend some time trying to get it better. Also been struggling with balancing the shift to the big chainring. Getting it so that it doesn't risk passing over and coming off so far has resulted in a slow shift. The limit screws seem to do more than just limit?

Setup niggles aside from a cosseted Shimano convert this bike utterly flies compared to my old Giant 3 aluminum nag. Hills feel completely different as in about 2% less after losing 2-1/4 Kg. On the flats I seem to have gained speed too which is a surprise. There is a definite stiffness improvement at work but I'm struggling to explain why it feels so good. Minor wheel aero? Hub bearings?

Finally I'm not disappointed with the stealth mat black finish. Its not a good looking bike and thats sort of what I wanted - no visible branding as if its a knock off import.

Mine was perfectly set up :? And with being a bike mechanic myself, I'm pretty anal when it comes to stuff being set up properly and was upset there was nothing to tinker with

Planet x do seem to be in a bit of a rush when setting up bikes, my cable was so stretched from the handlebars that the bar tape was coming off, and as for the rattle is it the cables at the front? that was what mine was. And im getting a k edge chain catcher so that just incase the chain comes off, my frame is safe :D I do think that planet x should just change the decals on the AL30 wheels they do look pretty horrible in my opinion.

Just natural cable stretch I'd guess for me.

On a positive note I'm pleased with the actual performance of the brakes compared to my cheap tekro 320s. I now understand what modulation is - as in it has some :o

Quite like the saddle (standard PX one). The bar tape isn't particularly cushioned, but I don't suffer from hand buz and I like the look (though not the finishing electrical tape). I like the low profile of the Force shifter heads. Can really get your hands round the top of them and I like the faint aero whistle they make when descending.

I really like the alternate colours on the bottle cages. When funds allow some planet x carbon clinchers would go down a treat. I can't speak from experience but a friend of mine said they made a big difference on his TT bike.

Yeah i agree, 50-60mm carbon clinchers would be my next upgrade for sure.

Deep rims help everywhere and look well cool and make smart sounds, so win win all around: I have P/X 50s, 80s, those Mavic things which are the Kyserium rim with carbon fairings (Cosmos? Cosmic? You know the ones- retail at about £700/£800 but aren't really worth it) and Kyserium Elites and only use the Kyseriums on the winter commuter.

The carbon tub 50s are bombproof - I use them for commuting, training and racing and with a set of Conti Sprinters at 140/150psi have had no punctures in 3 or 4 years (he says jinxing himself).

Throw some Tufo S3 Lites onto save even more weight.

Swissssssssssssstop yellow pads (or even the ones that came from P/X stop well but are a bit nosier) and away you go.

No worries at all - glad to be of help.

I know that opinions vary massively but I've alays used Jantex tub tape instead of glue - less hassle, cleaner, easier to change. But that's just me - some swear by glue.

I also have a couple of pairs of Planet X's carbon/ti skewers - look really nice, weigh nothing and hold everything secure - used on all bikes for 4 years now with not a glitch.

P/X do tub/wheel combo special deals so worth having a look and see when they come up otherwise CRC, Ribble, etc for tubs.

    Y

Just wanted to post you were right. :P

All niggles sorted. Bike is flying. Need to sort a more bling cable tie solution than gaffer tape out though

I like the new stickers. I took the originals off pretty much straight away. I dunno if I could put stickers on wheels if they weren't the actual wheels though :lol:

    Where'd you get them mate?

Yeah the planet x ones are horrible, and well they look pretty much identical to the mavic cosmic elites now and look much better and over twice the price!
    I got them here
    http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/daddy-dooms/
Really good quality decals, came with nearly twice the amount i needed and all of the hub decals, i got the mavic cosmic elite ones as i knew they were made for the 30mm rim, they are 18mm tall - perfect.

The planet x decals they put on their rims look a bit cheap in my opinion which is a shame as they are supposed to be pretty good wheels
