Turbo trainer position

Just borrowed a turbo trainer and after the first go it feels.. odd. Is it normal for my bike setup to feel different? Specifically:
* I found I was rocking in the saddle at high cadences until I dropped the saddle a cm or 2
* The bars felt too low - this is more understandable since more weight would be on them
I guess my basic question is, should the saddle position that feels right on the turbo be a guide for the height on the road? The rear wheel's only an inch off the ground, after all, and the relative positions of saddle, pedals and bars are unchanged.
Any advice welcome!

Are you using a riser block with the turbo? I found my usual position felt a bit odd until I bought a block, once I did it felt just like normal.0

No I'm not - thanks, I'll give it a go with an old phone book or something first and see if that helps."We're not holding up traffic. We are traffic."0
