I do find the BMC team a bit baffling though. Maybe van Garderen is going to be in the Tour de Suisse?
Maybe Eijssen (BMC) will at last show the promise he had a couple of years ago.

Also be interesting to see how Slagter (Blanco) fares mixing it with the big boys.

Contador and the other Dauphiné contenders, gain more than Froome from Wiggins' non-selection for the Tour. A more relaxed Froome, free from the paranoia that any display of weakness would be exploited by a loitering Wiggins, may lose some of his edge.

The racing may be more 'attacking'. There's now more than one way up the mountain for Sky which might change their tactics to keep the kick in Porte as well as Froome.

Which makes it more of a pity that Thibaud Pinot isn't riding.

Probably deserves a thread of his own, but Samuel Sanchez, then: straight from Giro into Dauphiné deserves respect... And yet... and yet...
While Valverde and Bertie have been well f*sted by the fans and media, as someone who has been winning since 2000, Sanchez has barely been fingered by accusers... On that basis - innocent until proven guilty and all that - I feel like I should give him his dues, but feel challenged doing so: is this just racism on my part?
