I'll be there, first time for me.

Have wanted to go the last two years. In 2011, one of my best friends threw a wedding that weekend. Last year, he threw a home-coming party after he and his new bride had been travelling for 6 months.

This year, I'm dragging him along with me :D

hmmm itching to take the fixie but can't be bothered to find ways to make it carry more water & there will be no hiding from any niggles that develop en route.

    MTFU?

I'm going fixed, maybe take a camel-back or similar ipete? I think I will take two bottles of energy drink stuff (strongish) and a camel-back for pure H2O and snackage. Variety will be key eating wise. What do you mean by 'niggles'

You can get a .kml file from here and if you do some googling, there are sites that will convert it to a gpx file

I'm dynamoing with SWMBO and a friend. They're both a bit green, bit worried about them TBH. SWMBO will probably be OK, longest ride shes ridden is only about 20 or so miles, but I've seen her give birth so I know shes double tough. My friend on the other hand was totally spent after a 40 mile ride with me once, and he's meant to be driving home afterwards. So I can take over driving I may well put SPDs on the road bike... :(

I'm just printing out a sign that says "BR forum - Daddy0" on it, so if you see me say hi and ask the guy on the black Allez if he's alright, pretend he looks ill or something

In all seriousness can someone reccommend a route from stratford station to the start that is safe? Remember i'm a country boy

If you're really not sure of your way from Stratford to the start why not just jump on the overhead (the ginger line) to Hackney Central. Only 3 stops and you won't be stressing out about getting lost.

Good spot yesterday! How'd your ride go? That was a perfect ride for fixed.

Not slept for 28 hours now, on the coach and have a random falling asleep on my shoulder, akward!

A bit slow for me! Nice bike btw. My gearing was a bit low, I was spinning out a lot and also had to hang around a bit for my club mates. I managed 140 miles as I live fairly near the finish so I rode part of the way home. Magical ride, very surreal!

Have to admit, thoroughly hated the ride 30-50 miles in as my back was giving me grief but that food stop + meal deal + lie down + codeine and the next 70 miles flew by (possible in a pain killer fueled haze) but was a real nice tempo despite the wind and yes a surreal evening.

Somewhat envious you didn't have to experience the coaches!! and people who use Smart Lunars in flashing mode ow me new retinas!!

As it customary in these type of events, here is the bike above the head shot..

Just got home after my first Dynamo. Excellent ride, slightly disappointed that we didn't have a clear night-sky, but that did keep the temperature up. Can't be dealing with the coach thing afterwards though. Grateful for the service today and at £20 good value, but what a load of hanging around and endless queueing! Think I'll try riding there and back next time - we'll see. Highly enjoyable though and would defo do again.

So, Dunwich Dynamo done for this year. Feeling great after a bath and a good clean up. 181.9km or 113 miles in 11.5 hours (8h 40mins moving), I don't think that is too bad! Metric and Imperial centuries on consecutive saturdays, so am pleased with the distances I am covering. Cycling through the night is weird, at about 2am things got a bit visually surreal, with the tarmac glistening under the LED lights and the other lights being used adding to the colour.

Ps, the Lunar may have been me for a while, I thought I had it on the lowest mode but I didn't- I changed it as soon as I found out. Sorry!
    RIP commute...

There and back again. Little bit broken. 228 miles in total, including too and from my front door.

Love the vibe of the ride. Some of the stragglers must get in way past 12. One couple I spoke too were only at Market Needham at 10:15!

Must have spent nearly as much time queueing/waiting as I did riding. Saw a few people who weren't very happy with their bikes after they had been in the lorry back to London.

Yeah, I live in the area and took in Dunwich on a Sunday 100-miler yesterday (owning up to anyone who asked that I hadn't just done the Dynamo...). I headed home through Westleton and Darsham, and there were still plenty of riders about ten miles from the coast at midday.

    Oh, and 228 miles? Chapeau.

As in queueing because the roads are too crowded??

I nearly did it this year but it clashes with wedding anniversary and it was 20 up this year. Tempted to suggest tandeming it with the other half but not if its tending towards london to brighton style queuing. What are the estimates for the amont of participants nowadays?

Nah queuing at the beach end to load bikes, get in busses then get stuck in London traffic

Would have been quicker to turn back and ride. Cant complain but I'll be looking at alternatives next year.

Roads were pretty clear, a nice spread and always reassuring to see lights ahead, didn't do any route planning! Must have been about 2,500 people.

Ah that sounds OK. I'd do the drive down on saturday morning, leave bike in office, and leave the car with change of clothes etc etc down there and then train back up to London ready to start.

Hassle and being tired and not a good combo.

Enjoyed the ride despite slow companions. The coaches were nightmare and despite being on the first coach out had to wait at Southwark for all the other coaches (A,B,C &D) to arrive before they would begin unloading the bikes. Mine, of course, was fist on so last off! Some friends caught the local train to Ipswich and they made the train from Ipswich a non-stopper to Liverpool Street because of all the bikes.

Happy to do it next year but just not the coach. Dulwich Paragon had the right idea, their coach and van was loaded and gone by 7am!
