Is a reduction in resting heart rate a good thing?

I know that it's good to see my blood pressure reducing as I start to get a bit fitter but I'm not so sure about my resting heart rate.
Normally it is hovering around 50bpm (+/- 2) but this morning I took several readings and the lowest was 39 and the highest was 44 - is this a good thing?
I have to make an appointment to see my doc re my high blood pressure so I will discuss this with a medical expert (no disrespect to the forum intended) but just wanted some initial thoughts.
Thanks

could be a faulty reading in the first place ?
lower resting is often a good thing and a good indication your fully rested but then everyone is different and yes it could be linked to your BP...good call getting it checked to be sure0 -
Lower is generally good yes. If it drops to nil though - then thats not quite so good.... i would try and keep it above nil if i was you!!0
